This is a great hostel! The owner is very kind and will treat you like family. Expect budget style facilities but GREAT customer service. The terrace is very nice and the breakfast is surprisingly good. The location is also in the quiter side of Thamel but only a 5 minute walk from the hassle and bustle.

Fantastic stay - the owner is incredibly helpful and goes out of his way to make sure it's a good stay. He arranged plane tickets a day before a flight for us, met us at the airport both times, and sat down over coffee with us to review our itinerary in Nepal. Staff made all the difference. Nice rooftop terrace, breakfast included (and really good), and great location in heart of Thamel.

This is a terrific place to stay in Kathmandu. The owner goes out of his way to help you and make your stay as best as it can be. He arranges tours and transport at good rates and is just generally a beautiful, helpful person. The hostel is in a great location, the breakfast is excellent, the wifi works and they even supply free water and toilet paper! I couldn't recommend it highly enough. You should stay there!

The staff was very friendly and went out of their way to make sure I had a good time. It's located within blocks of a few good restaurants, Pubs and ATM's in the heart of Thamel. They have two hotels which are right next to each other that offer a place to stay. They also have a roof top terrace and will plan any trip for you. The entrance is located on the building side down an alley and is on the 4th floor which can be confusing. Look for the small sign. Breakfast was great.

This is probably the best hostel we were in our month trip through India and Nepal. The staff were very helpful. They provide free breakfast, mineral water and toilet paper.

I finally stayed at avalon's house (they have the same manager, or something like that) because of an early arrival. Anyway, i spent some time in elbrus. They have the same facilities and great rooftops. Rooms are average. The staff (look for 'Ale') is really friendly and helpful. Well located, close to central thamel.

iWe have been in Nepal for 1 month and staid in Elbrus 4 times, Especially the staff is worth coming back, they will arrange anything you need. And the breakfast on the rooftop terrace is a very good start of each day.

Cosy small accomodation with a rooftop courtyard located in central Thamel. Differs from the larger hotel Chains as you can get to know the owner Khem who'll often sit with you for a tea and chat. Fell sick on my very last day and Khem allowed me to stay an extra 4 hours to get some rest and try recover before my flight. Even took me to the medical clinic, waited, and took me back. Hard pressed to find that warmth and compassion in larger hotels. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend Elbrus Home.

This hostel is a very pleasant place to get accommodated in Kathmandu. It resides in Tridevi Marg, Thamel, on the 4th floor, which is definitely reduces the annoying noise of dance night bars in the neighborhood. Having a nice rooftop terrace full of flowers man tend to be forget it is in the middle of a capital. The boss and staff is very helpful not only in Elbrus-related affairs but organizing trips and other accommodations in the country. With wifi, breakfast, free drinking water.

Very friendly and welcoming hostel and The free breakfast is a really nice touch too. Brilliant location in Thamel. The wifi signal worked really well and the showers are lovely and hot! We booked our trek with the staff here which we would highly recommend, the company is called Heian. The staff are equally helpful and friendly. especially when we misplaced our passport they went out of there way to save us a lot of stress and expense so thank you! Looking forward to staying here again.

We booked twice with Elbrus Home but were transferred to alternative hotels each time. Both of these were fine, we felt safe and the bedrooms were clean. The second place (Avalon Hotel) was better than the first (just across the road from Elbrus), but we paid more that we had originally intended. Khem and the other staff from Elrbus Home were friendly and helpful.
