For the price and location - this location is an excellent choice for the minimalist travelor!

Hostel if u like 2 call it that has NO FACILITYS or friendly welcome @ all! The rooms themselves are clean & v spacious Lots of light due 2 lack of curtains! our room was sold as 12 bed it was a 14bed. There is No communal area or televison or any form of entertainment. there is free internet which is gr8. No kitchen either. The women @ reception loves ruining peoples days with her misserable face! check in is at 2pm. Breakfast is a joke. dry crusty bagels with no condiments & a waste of time. :

Great place. The up and down stairs bars are overrated but their are some great local places all around the area. As far as "parties on the roof"... not as much as you would think. I would still fully recommend this place. Great great time.

Too bad they don't have a real kitchen (only a fridge and a microwave). Need to wake up really early if you wanna see the breakfast...but it's so good to have this roof access and to live in this crazy district!!!! For my next stop in San Fran: no other way, Elements Hostel!

Almost unbelievably nice for the price. Very safe, very chill, lots of people with no ill will towards one another staying here, clean rooms, internetc. etc. Can get a bit depressing if you stay too long, because there's a strong contingent of people down on their luck and looking for work, but, you know, that's just life, and it's great they have such a nice place to crash while they sort out their lives. Very helpful staff. Roof area's super nice to relax after a long day.

This was by far the worst hostel I have ever stayed in and I have stayed in a lot of hostels. First of all, the staff were very unhelpful and rude. If the guy at the desk couldn't answer your question with one word you might as well not bother asking. We also had bed bugs in the room and I have it on good authority that they even knew the room was infested before they put us in it. Do not stay here!

It was great for the price! I'm a bit older than the "normal" patron at a hostel, so my views are probably a bit more seasoned.
