It is an old (indeed, historic) building, but the rooms are neat and clean and the staff is very, very pleasant, friendly and helpful. The hostel is centrally located. And you can't beat the price.

The staff was very helpful and friendly. We backpackers always appreciate a kind person to welcome us from weary travels

This is an extremely inexpensive hostel (they had a deal for 3 nights for $45total). We only stayed here because of that, however you are getting what you paid for (if not, less). Very dirty... the "dining room" and kitchen look like they haven't been deep cleaned in months. Staff is not friendly.. they are just people working for accommodation. There were cockroaches on the walls... and climbing up my boyfriend's arm while eating. Big party hostel, so don't expect to get much sleep.

The staff was very unaccommodating and outright rude. We politely asked a few questions and were met with short, irritated responses as if we were inconveniencing her (we asked to check in 15 minutes early). We ended up taking a nap for a few hours and checking out that same day because we felt so uncomfortable in the atmosphere. And the staff member laughed at us when we did so.

I would never stay there again the showers had blood over the walls and toilets was always broken so there was only 3 toilets working for a big hostel that's not good . I complained to the manger and she said its a bank holiday weekend there's nothing they could do oven sick in the showers I had to go fitness first to shower if I had the money I would of stayed somewhere else

despite being absolutely filthy barely anything worked, broken toilet, taps and shower heads. staff were unfriendly and unhelpful. we were told we could check in at 6am and they were not sympathetic at all in telling us it wasnt. didnt evem let us check in early at all even though the room wasnt cleaned when we did check in at 1 anyway. made no effort to compensate the misshap.

Old dirty Hostel. When things are broken, they remain broken for the next three years or something. That is really anoying, even the toilet and shower locks were broken. Rooms are very dirty and sheets weren't clean. The atmosphere in the hostel is great for people who stayed there for a long time. For new people staying only couple of days it is not easy to make some new contacts.

nothing is good except the cheap deal they offer if you stay for more than 3 nights. sydney is a ripped off city so $45 for 3 nights is average. the receptionists are poorly trained - they use those ignorant english youngsters running the front who have no clue about the city or the country. i doubt they know the way of going home! no internet is surprisingly not a problem because you get free internet closeby. i don't recommend it to anyone! quite bad experience i had. place is so dirty

I really liked the location - it is near very city center. I also liked the price. They are also using cards instead of keys

The rooms are quite clean and spacious with lockers for valuables. Fairly quiet but only about a 5 min walk to the 'red light area' for the nightlife! Oh and there is a lift which is great as there are 4 floors. I extended my stay here for a few more nights so it does the job!

This hostel is such a nice old building but it is kinda youth/ party hostel what I really did not mind about but people who are lookig for a calm place to stay migt feel weird! Unfortunately it was a bit dirty and 2 out of 4 toilets were not working for our floor! But the people are really nice and fun :)

Very basic, the bed creaked, the bin wasn't emptied, no remote for the TV that only had 3 channels. The staff were unable to answer my questions regarding how long it would take to get to the airport. Location was ok and was only a 1/2 hr walk to Circular Quay. I won't be staying there again and I won't recommend it to anybody. The owner should spend some money and bring the building and it's facilities into this century.
