We love to stay at the Empire Backpackers-just what we need -a safe, clean and tidy place to sleep overnight.

Staff are so lovely, The place is set in an old building but is well maintained and homely, public spaces are wonderful. Bathrooms were always clean and showers were great! Shame we didn't stay longer.

Beautiful location, well maintained hostel in a lovely building. Staff friendly and helpful. Visit bushy beach to see the yellow penguins and seals! Great views and a nice walk from hostel.

We really enjoyed our stay even though we arrived late in the night. There was always some one there to welcome us. We will definitely return to stay at the hotel which was so convenient to get to and also right in the CBD.

A nice hostel in a great little town. Only a few minor complaints: There was new carpet being laid while we were there, a bit of a bother but it was finished by the evening. The kitchen supplies were not so clean, and all the tea towels smelled like mildew. Other than that everything was great, the bathrooms were very clean, and the lightweight down blanket kept us so warm that we didn't realize we'd forgotten to turn on the heater all night!
