Unfortunately these days there are construction on the building next door. Wake up at 6h50 for sure. The beds in the dorms are on the floor

Martin is a great owner, very knowledgeable, and willing to help you have a successful experience in Phnom Penh. We stayed in the air con room, which was great. It was fun sleeping on the floor, and it was nice and quite during night. It's within walking distance of many things, and if you don't want to walk Martin will help you hire a tuk-tuk at a fair price. Great play to stay.

Martin was always very helpful, and the free laundry service was great. Location was within walking distance of riverfront, but had to take a tuktuk to many of the major sites. However, the rooms were a major disappointment, for being the top rated hostel in Phnom Penh- thin mattresses on the floor, nothing else. No window in our 4 bed dorm, making it seem almost prison-like. Only one toilet/shower bathroom on the floor, which would be inconvenient if the place was full.

I was a little freaked when I saw I would be laying on a matress on the floor, but the place ended up being pretty good. The owner/operator, Martin, English and Khmer speaking, was extremely helpful. They had books, and free laundry and good tips on what to see. The were on main road, about 5 minutes walk to the river, where the night market is held that was amazing. The ac was fantastic and they had lockers the place was very clean. Great value for the price!

Great location and helpful staff. booked for a 3 bed dorm. Bathroom was very clean. hot water. 24hr security. only issue is the terrible foam mattress on the floor. It dipped in the middle so it felt as though you were sleeping on the hard marble floor. Apart from that no problems.

The staff was very helpful and nice. They can give you a lot of information. Also, they offer a free pick-up from the bus station. We very much enjoyed our stay.

The staff at this hostel were wonderfully helpful and friendly, although the actual guesthouse unfortunately wasn't up to par with them. The beds are literally pieces of foam on the ground and not very comfortable, and the security box in the private dorm is literally a plastic box that isn't secured to the wall. The bathroom however was nice but don't count on having the luxury of hot water. Air con worked well, good location but don't think I'll be staying there again.

Location is really good, and a walk's distance from the central market and the night market. Martin is a nice person and he answered every question so patiently and usefully. Stayed in the air-conditioned 3-bed dorm for 2 days, and I am satisfied with its facilities.

Not a bad spot to stay if you like a simple place. No beds, just yellow foam on the ground. But Martin is really knowledgable,

Good located guesthouse with very friendly and helpful staff. Had a private-standardroom with ensuite bathroom. Room was huge and also good for 3. It was all very simple and a little older, but ok. Only the springs in the matresses can keep you not really off from the floor. Time for new matresses! But this and the little bit expensive breakfast ( just a few steps away you can get better for less) are the only minus. For my next visit to Phnom Phenn the Encounters will be my first choice again

I really didn\'t like this place. I chose it because it has a really high rating but I don\'t know why that is. For an extra dollar, you can stay in a really nice room in a newer hostel in Phnom Penh. The rooms were empty, just a few mattresses on the floor. Wouldn\'t recommend it.

While Martin is an excellent host who gives a nice run down of what to do in Phnom Penh, the hostel condition is poorly reflected in the average rating. Beds in the dorm are simply thin foam mattresses and for our stay we had one bathroom to account for around 11 people. Wi-fi only available downstairs. On the positive side, they can organise transport domestically and to other countries, however, be warned that for the same price there are many other hostels in much better condition.

martin was great, really helpful! the rooms are simple - beds are on the floor - but if that doesn't bother you this is an excellent place to stay. good location! we got an AC dorm which was a good choice because it was on the 3rd floor so would have been hot if we got a non ac room..
