The staff is really nice and welcoming, mainly the guys (the girls seems a bit moody though). Free breakfast in the pub is also very good (hot drinks, cereals, toast, jam) and made me earn money :) The location is very good, Chinatown is a nice place to stay and only 5 minutes walking from the city. Bathroom and rooms were clean, the only thing, there is no heater. The hotel is not as noisy as I thought. The pub downstairs is really cool. I will definitly recommend this hostel.

a true "australian hotel" with a pub at the ground floor. Old building but nice and clean facilities, very nice the 3 beds room. Kind staff and great position if you want to visit Melbourne.

I booked a 6 bed mixed dorm for 2 nights but for some unexplained reason once I had arrived at the hostel, they gave me a 3 bed female dorm instead, still not entirely sure why this was as I think the 3 bed dorm would've been less per night. The bar below my room was EXTREMELY loud, especially when, in particular, i had 2 early mornings ahead of me.

The staff and people around is cool, location is good (if u don't mind the noise). The hostel has breakfast which could save ur time in the morning. It could be a lot better if there's a makeover to the interrior of the building.

The hostel was good value for money. It has everything a normal hostel would have, but facilities including the kitchen area was dirty. The worst part of all, was the showers which fluctuated in temperature from burning hot to freezing, no matter what temp you started at. Also because it's above a pub, it's mostly young dudes who stay here with very few women at all. Most try to be a "cool guy" due to this and give you stern looks if you're another dude to compete for women.

It's very good. we enjoyed our stay. it's just a little bit noisy at night as our room window opened to little Bourke street. But that's ok. :) will definitely stay there again.

WE love staying here. Clean ans helpful staff. Although they have bar under the place is fresh and clean. We like that they have numeric locker food in the kitchen and in the room with same key. Very smart and the fridge is very big. Kitchen and tv lounge clean every morning.

It is DIRTY,the carpet of corridors is simply disgusting.Bathrooms are once a day cleaned but i guess not enough.Stuff was not always prepared(we risked to pay twice the amount because she could not do multiplications). It is located in the nosiest spot of MEL.Kitchen is ok,tv rom small and claustrophobic. We were at last floor without elevator it was not practical at all for luggage. If u stay in MEL for more that one night take definitely something out of the centre, cleaner and cheper.

I have never stayed anywhere as untrusting of it's guests as this hostel. They expect a security deposit "in case you damage something" - the place is pretty run down so I doubt any damage would even be noticed. You have to leave a deposit for crockery and cutlery but then they don't have sufficient lockers to keep it in the kitchen so you have to store it in your room at least 3 flights of stairs away, very inconvenient. Location is good and the breakfast included is handy.

Loud dirty hostel. Do not come here and go to St. Kilda if you're under 35 years old.
