The ac is tune off in the morning and turned back on at 8 pm, so staying inside or coming back during the heat of the day to take a nap is not possible. Besides, during cleaning (12-3, as it turned out) you're not allowed in the dorm. The outside rest area has American soaps playing much of the time. Otherwise the owner tries to run a tight ship with the general welfare of all in mind. The partitions afford privacy, but dampen conviviality among clientele.

We had booked into the dorm at FWD House, but on arrival we asked if there happened to be any private rooms available. Win explained they only had dorms but instead informed us of his friend's new hostel/hotel just across the road that we could change to if we preferred. It was so kind of him to let us know and leave our booking no trouble at all. We were staying for a while so it was better for us, but I would definitely go back to FWD if I was looking for a dorm- lovely staff, great location.

really enjoyed my stay, made to feel welcome by the owner, who was very knowledge about the local and surrounding areas. The chance to take tours was offered but not forced on you. The owner clearly cares that you enjoy your stay and your visit to Chiang Mai as a whole.

Excellent hostel! Everyone was very respectful of each other. The breakfast and location was great! Front desk was especially helpful, they helped me organize all my day trips.

Great hostel, Win and his family are very nice. If your going on tours, organise them through Win at the hostel, he gets you a great price. On the last day of our stay, Win drove us round Chiang Mai in his own car and took us to tourists spots followed by a travel agent where he got us a great deal on some flights home.

Unfortunately I had to change my plans at the last moment, so I couldn't stay here, but the customer service was impeccable, I was very impressed by their willingness to help me book discounted tours and activities. I will definitely consider this hostel the next time I visit Chiang Mai!

I've been travelling and staying in hostels for the last 9 months. The owners of FWD have been the most helpful and hospitable people that I've stayed with so far. This isn't a party hostel, just a nice relaxing place to stay within walking distance of many of Chiang Mai's top attractions. Highly recommended.

FWD is a great little hostel, the owner and his family are lovely and super helpful. I had a great sleep here, met some lovely people and would definitely stay here again if I come back to Chiangmai. It's not a party place, but it's not far from the bars and everything else in the city.

The owner and his family were very kind, welcoming and helpful. The price of the room includes snacks and tea and their thoughtfulness. I would definitely stay here again! The facilities were very cleaned and the beds were made everyday!

I loved my stay at FWD Hostel. The concept of having box beds is so refreshing and a nice way to implement a level of privacy and security (with the addition of the large sized personal lockers). I love the modern style of the bathrooms and dressing area. The owners were very hospitable, and even helped me learn how to drive a motorbike! For the cost it is a great value.

Awesome Hostel. Phson and Winn (the owner and operator) are awesome. Winn handled all of our bookings including, tiger kingdom, ziplining, jungle trek, rock climbing, motor bike rental, Thai massage, and muay Thai. It was effortless. We just told him what all we wanted to do, and he made it happen. I was with a group of 5 guys, and we couldn't say enough good things about the accommodations. Highly recommend!

Win and the whole staff/family are VERY welcoming and accomodating, and they can arrange tours and transportation for MUCH less than travel agencies booking the same services. Not a party hostel, but highly recommended and very comfortable stay, especially due to its awesome location.

Friendly owners who went out of their way to make your stay comfortable. Fabulous also for organising tours which were well organised. Great value for money.

Nice location, owners extremely friendly and give out cold tea and snacks, lockers for each bed. Lumpy mattresses, only two showers (only one of which had a water heater), and would be very easy to get into the room if you weren't staying there. Some sound dampening or dividers would have been nice between the beds because they were all in one big, loud room.

I booked 7 nights at FWD house and I ended up staying for 9. If you are the type of person who likes to explore all day long and then need a good night sleep then this place is perfect. It's quite although there are 10 beds in the room but they are arranged in a way that everybody has their own privacy, which is nice. Even though there are only 2 showers and 2 toilets I never had to wait for them! If you have any questions you can ask the owner and his wife, they will be happy to help.

This is certainly no party hostel but the staff are extremely helpful, the rooms are very clean, the wifi is great and the location is perfect. If that's what you're looking for, which I was, then this is the place!

I travelled to Chiang Mai alone and stayed at FWD House. the owners were really great and ever so hopefully! They assisted me with finding some great courses to do. They were so friendly and I felt that I was able to approach them for anything which is very important, especially as a lone traveller. Win collected and dropped me back off at the airport which again was great! Overall I had an amazing stay in Chiang Mai, made all the better by the helpfulness and friendliness of win & co

Great hostel in main part of the city - clean, well managed and helpful staff. Quite a private dorm as each bed has a big partition, and a great lockable storage area where you can put your whole backpack. Would benefit from a communal area.
