That was one of the worst place I have stayed. Staff is not very nice and very strictly for all their rules like you have to come back to Hostel by 10 pm, on all walls there are informations that drinking your own alcohol is not permitted and the guy all the time checks it, the doors of your house have to be opened/closed etc... Don't be even surprised if Staff come to your house and tell you that cooking Chips is forbidden :) One day there was no hot water...

Owner Comment (Show)
We don't have strict rules, the no alcohol on the premises is a Scottish LAW. The hostel as No Curfew so i have no idea where you got that from! You don't have to be back to the hostel by 10pm you can return anytime you like, as long as your checked in before we closed but if your going back out or staying longer than one night than do whatever you like. As for the chip pan, The reason we don't have a deep fat fryer is before they are dangerous and Cliff was concerned as you made a homemade one, I can see from his point of view. We don't go around spying on guests! But what i would like to make clear is some rooms we do enter to open windows or empty bins, cleaning purposes only. We also did have hot water, it was just used and the boiler had to reheat. I think very unfair comments in all. Instead of complaining on here or it would of taken is for you to come see staff and had things explained to you.

The Hostel was great, even though we were the only people staying. Wasn't sure if anyone would be there because no one was picking up the phone, but we did find out this was due to a family emergency other than that the kitchen facilities were good and Cliff was very informative about how everything works. We would stay again as the price was so affordable.
