Fat Cat! Great fun, great community, great hostel! Off the beaten path! Small, eco-backpackers in west Auckland!
Welcome to our little Eden! The Fat Cat Backpackers is part of the Fruit Vans Community Project, sharing the same 100% Organic city farm!
We have a four bed dorm room with garden view, parking for vans and camping.
We have a great community at home; all the travellers who work at the Fruit Vans Farm also live at the backpackers, so you'll walk straight into a warm and friendly travelling community! We have pizza nights, communal meals and you're always welcome to join us on our outings to the beach. With all the travellers at home you will find many friends to give you advice about travelling in New Zealand!
We have free bikes and walking trails which are great to explore - you're also welcome to help yourself to the beautiful vegetables in the garden!
If you're buying or selling your van, you're welcome to use our cleaning products and tools to create your perfect home! We can even take you to the recycling centre where you can find cheap wood for your construction.
Warm, welcoming community located on 100% organic city farm. 25 minutes from popular surf beaches (closer than any other Auckland hostel!), 10 minutes to spectacular Waitakere Ranges National Park where you can treck from one to several days, 600m from the train line and 30 minutes to the city centre - set in beautiful, lush gardens, we await you with a smile and a warm cup of tea! I spent my first night in new zealand in this hostel and enjoyed it. I loved meeting new people and felling very welcome. I tried to book for my last night in new zealand but there was no space.
