Fat Cat Travellers Community

Welcome to our little Eden! Fat Cat Travellers Community is a 100% organic city farm located close to the spectacular Waitakere Ranges National Park in West Auckland. We’re off the beaten track, eco-friendly and backpacker-friendly!

We have a double room and a dorm room, both with garden view, parking for vans and camping.

We run Fat Cat Travellers Community with our heart and soul – inviting travellers to share our home. We have an old farm house surrounded by lush gardens and vegetable patches that we have converted into a self-sufficient Eco paradise. We live by the mantra ‘reduce, reuse, recycle’.

Consequently, we’ve used salvaged materials to construct some awesome facilities that you are welcome to use during your stay, including an outdoor solar shower, a garden fire bath, a tree swing, a patio with a fireplace and our tree house with a chill-out area.

Our place is part WWOOFing farm and part backpackers’ – a vibrant, varied and friendly community built around our home and gardens.

You'll walk straight into a warm and welcoming community. You are invited to join us for pizza nights, communal meals and on our outings to the beach. We have bikes and walking trails which are great to explore - you're also welcome to help yourself to the beautiful vegetables in the garden!

With all the travellers at home you will find many new friends to give you advice about New Zealand.

We are 25 minutes from the popular west coast surf beaches (closer than any other Auckland hostel), 10 minutes to spectacular Waitakere Ranges National Park where you can trek from one to several days, 600m from the train line and just 30 minutes to the city centre.

Set in beautiful, lush organic gardens, we await you with a smile and a warm cup of tea! We’re eco-friendly, community-friendly and backpacker-friendly!
