Edit and her son are incredibly welcoming and despite our injury on a moto...they were extra accommodating. Edit even accompanied my boyfriend to the hospital to help work out the finance issues. The location is a bit of a walk but it's completely safe and isn't too far at all. I definitely think it was a great value.

Edith has a lovely in-process garden on the outskirts of downtown Las Terrenas. She is very helpful having lived there 20+ yrs. Unique are the two donkeys that roam. The cabanas (simple bedroom & washroom) are clean with a community open air kitchen/barbeque area. One walks down the small road to the main where a motorcycle is flagged for a trip to any beach or shop. Fata Morgan offers an opportunity of a peaceful setting IN the town for a VeRy reasonable hostel rate... but it's not a hostel.

Edith, the owner and proprietor of Fata Morgana, treats all of her guests like family members. My little casita felt like home during the entire time that I was there. Very highly recommended for those who are looking for an alternative to the sterile hotel experience.

A really lovely place, excellent for relaxing! Really good value for little money! Friendly and helpful owner! The dogs and the donkeys were always around and we had good company ;-). I would have loved to stay longer!!!
