This is the second time I have stayed at Fawlty Towers and have found the staff friendly and helpful each time.

I styaed 4 nites and had no complaints. I had the reception book all my tours and found them to be competative with evreyone else. The pool is clean and grounds are nice. I do agree with everyone else that the kitchen is limited they just need to stock it with pots and pans dishes ect. my room was fine and the hot water works. there is a supermarket right accross the street and currency exchange 'good rates' next door and plents of restraunts close by. I stayed at a 5-star guest house in Johannesburg for $72/night right before Fawlty Towers I paid $60 for Tawlty towers and it was unfortunate to see there wasn't even a towel in the room. No shampoo or body wash. Just 1 small bar of soap(thank you). Nobody cleaned my room during the 4 night stay. :( Otherwise it was a really good place with a wonderful staff. All the Guests seemed over 25 so it was pretty quiet. No loud, drunk teenagers. I think I'd stay again if I ever go back.

Overall I think Jollyboys Camp's rooms and facilities were nicer.

Great hostal; really needs to get some airconditioning in the rooms. Great pool area and friendly staff!

This place is very convenient to go shopping or to go restaurants. There are a supermarket and some restaurants nearby. It is easy to access to Victoria Falls. Staffs can help you when we walk around city. They tell you the taxi fare around Livingstone. It was not good that mosquito nets are torn a little. It was inconvenient that there is no outlet in a twin room.

Thank you for your comment and for informing us about the mosquito net. As part of our quality control, all rooms are checked frequently but sometimes things are missed, so thank you for making us aware of the problem. The mosquito net has now been fixed and all of the other nets in the Lodge have been checked. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused. The Lodge has dorm rooms and private rooms with shared bathing facilities and private en-suite rooms with separate facilities.

Fawltey Towers is known for attracting eccentrics of every age from around the world. We loved it. The rooms are very comfortable, the staff is superb, you meet interesting people at every turn. We initially only planned to stay two nights but extended to four nights and loved most every minute. The pool is super in the day and the temp is perfect around midnight. You are in easy walking distance of several pubs that do "live" music and a great international crowd that includes zambians.

The rooms were very very hot, sauna-like, with no air conditioning, which really is necessary in such a hot climate. While the accommodation wasn't terribly expensive, some investment should be made in air conditioning. We wouldn't return to or recommend FT for that reason.

Thank you for your comment. We will be installing air conditioning units in all the Lodge's en-suite rooms by the end of January 2012. All the rooms (including dorms) have fans. Our staff are on hand to assist if a fan has stopped working, which happens from time to time, as they are used continually during the hot season in Zambia.

Oh, just not that clean at all. Lovely staff, but so much more could be done with this place. Photos on website and fliers quite misleading. No free wifi/Internet as advertised on fliers/in lonely planet. We picked up a flier stating we could get free Zambian visa, 20% off first night and free wifi but of course when we showed up with that, all were invalid. No dates on the flier - big problem! Self-catering kitchen terrible. Only the other guests lifted this place. Could be heaps better!!

Unfortunately we cannot control information about the Lodge that is out of date (some information may still be in circulation after 5 years). Travel books published may not contain the most up to date information about the Lodge, but Internet sites will be more current. All kitchen equipment is available on request at reception. We appreciate your comments and will ensure that this is clear for all guests. Thank you.

The ladder of bunk bed was faulty and there's not much leverage to get up to top beds. Also, the mosquito nets were too big for bottom bunks.

Nice, chilled plce to stay and relax by the pool. First i stayed at Jollyboys which was packed to the roof with teenagers and people in their early twenties, then moved to fawlty towers which was almost paradise...very few guests so i got to enjoy it.

Good value accommodation in a friendly and easy-going place. The pool area is fantastic for chilling out in and for Zambian standards, the place was clean and decent. The real downside is the bar / restaurant however. It receives rave reviews in the Lonely Planet, but they've recently re-designed it completely into a Irish bar that is completely devoid of life and character. A real shame that they decided to do this in a fantastic Southern African setting. The food is terrible too.

Comfortably the best place to stay in Livingstone. Been twice - will go again assuming this place is still around in another ten years.

The kitchen can only be used until 5pm, nothing at all to cook your own dinner(shame with a big supermarket just opposite the hotel). Reception staff quite friendly but not very pro-active on tourist informations. Nice garden but pool not very clean.

Though I enjoyed my stay overall, I have to say that Fawlty Towers makes it extremely hard to cook for yourself for some unknown reason. Between having to sign out every pot, plate, and utensil, then having to deal with the cook staff that was rather contemptuous that you even ask to use their utensils (since the public kitchen has absolutely nothing), then having to put down a deposit just to borrow items... it's ridiculous. Especially since there is a grocery store directly across the street..

Fawlty Towers hoste is clean, secure and centre with groceries and a good restaurant across the street in the mall. Be sure to make time for a bicycle tour of Livingstone; you can book at the reservations desk.

Great stay there with lots of time by the pool. Ideal location across the street from a shopping centre. Very helpful and friendly staff. But if you want the free pancakes, be sure to be there at 3:30 pm. Arranged a great trip to dive into the Devil's Armchair at the edge of Victoria Falls. A must do experience. Perfect with the rainbow right behind us. Would recommend Fawlty Towers to anyone staying in Livingstone.

It was quiet season whilst we were there. hence the fun was low as there wasn't many other people which also may have dented the character rating. Security was great, and the staff were helpful.
