When we arrived nobody knew how much we had to pay. There were only cleaning ladies around. In our room 8 bed room there was only one other person staying, which was more like a caretaker than a guest. There were lots of curious stuff round his bed. Guess we and the caretaker were the only people in the whole hostel and we no contact person. The kitchen facilities were ok and the bathroom was clean. Whereas the carpet was absolutely dirty and the lights in the hall were not working.
I recently stayed in Finnegans hostel. The hostel is well located in the premier street .The owner and the manager guy are nice people. No common room or TV. There are tearooms where guest get served a free basic breakfast. The ornate tea rooms are open to the paying public during the day.At 6pm the kitchen and tearooms are open to guests. The dorm rooms are nice with lots of space and the beds are good.Granted the carpets are old but good value for money.

The atmosphere is the biggest problem, the minute you walked in there you got the creeps. Everything is broken, but was made to seem nice, there was no ladder to get to the top bed and all the chairs in our room were damaged. The second biggest problem was the security. We didn't get a key for our room, so virtually anybody could come and take anything we left there. There was also no real reception, so nobody would stop them+ we got the feeling that the hostel was a kind of homeless shelter.
