8 bed mixed dorm - Hostel excellent location with helpful staff. Cool bar with good variety of drinks & the beds were comfy. The cleanliness of the rooms was bad though. Clean sheets, but the solid bed-bases had dirt, other peoples hair & other nastiness at the sides. The Men's toilet/showers on 2nd floor (and 3rd floor) didn't seem to get cleaned at all during our stay, and parts of the building seemed pretty run down. Broken door handles in the cubicles and loose shower fittings.

Right on 6th street. Amazing bar downstairs. The 2nd floor kitchen is the central heart and social mixing pot at this place. Cleaned everyday and very good looking in fit out and decoration.

Firehouse is an excellent hostel, really helpful staff, good breakfast with fruit and good showers and rooms. There is a music place there as well, so there is music playing every night until midnight. This didn't bother me because I can sleep many places and I was on the second floor. Make sure to go east of six, if you want more local music.

Overall it was ok, but there wasn't enough stress or information for guests on when quiet hours were. Because it was so close to 6th street, I certainly understand that people are on vacation to drink every night, but the staff should have been stricter with quiet hours or a common area farther from the rooms. Other than that, great breakfast each morning, relatively clean, good showers.

This hostel is the best hostel I have stayed in in the states! The location is better than excellent! The facilities are clean and tidy, the excursion are ran by a differ met company but everything is so much fun, and simple to book at the hostel. The staff are super friendly and will help you out with anything! Mariana one of the owners is the nicest lady I have ever met! Went out of her way to show us the true Texas! She really made our stay and I will be coming back!

Great hostel location brilliant Wifi was terrible though... Bathroom on our floor always undergoing maintenance but of an inconvenience to go downstairs all the time Overall atmosphere

The security was a bit average considering the door wouldn't shut and needed to be re-hung on the dorm room so the swipe card was useless most of the time. Could definitely do with an outdoors communal area, however location is second to none, right on 6th street.

Great hostel - very easy to meet cool people and its right in the middle of all of the action. Would highly recommend it.

just a great hostel. unbeatable location, great atmosphere, clean, good facilities and the free breakfast is great. loved Austin and stayed about twice as long as planned and was at Firehouse the whole time. pub crawls 3 times a week and day trips are also offered (I did the river tubing which was awesome). If I went back to Austin I'd stay here again.

Great location downtown, convenient to public transit (bus from airport is $1.50, weekly pass less than $10) attached bar is a great place to start the night.

The best thing of the Firehouse hostel is the location. One block far from 6th street, it is perfect to visit the main attraction of Austin.

Definitely need earplugs when trying to sleep and the springs can be felt in the mattress. But otherwise, great location, friendly staff and pretty chilled atmosphere.

Staff was super-helpful and friendly. Room was clean, so was bathroom. It was weird that the third floor ladies room doesn't have locks on the stall doors? But not a big deal. Free Breakfast was a huge plus. Came for a conference, was able to find a quiet place to work on my presentation and practice. Wifi was reliable. Great location!

Too bad they don't really hv a common room.

Free towels, excellent breakfast spread (fresh fruit!), basic decor, comfy bed. Water pressure in the shower was great. Right downtown, the location could not be better. If you don't feel like wandering too far away there is an excellent bar by the same name adjacent to the hospital (think they're connected). There's a elevator and laundry available. Limited common area so a little challenging for making friends but great for people who plan to be out all day. I didn't mind the squeaky beds.
