Great lounge area with big screen tv. Great kitchen. Excellent that wifi is free. Lockers required. Also internet kept on cutting out.

The beds were really comfy and the location is great, the Intercity bus stop is right outside. The view from the balcony is awesome. No complaints.

Good hostel! Big kitchen, TV lounge and sun deck. Spacious rooms. Only thing: one employee was not a genius in calculating so I paid too much but he was very friendly when I calculated it for him and he gave me the money back, so no problem.

Great location, friendly staff and nice hostel.

it was said to be special, even "high standard" but in reality = disappointingly basic and rooms too crampy = no luggage storage.

The staff here are great but that's about it. The place is kept clean but the rooms and facilities leave a lot to be desired.

Main guy was really helpful and friendly.. the volunteers/helper/staff who stayed at the hostel were rude and probably the most untidy.. seem more bothered with selling chocolate fondant and lazing on the sofa than keeping the place tidy.. one guy was going round organising BBQs every other night, and making a tidy profit... the other hostel guests were kind enough to help drink my milk which is nice of them as the supermarket isnt that nearby..

I can´t recommend this hostel. The bathrooms need at least one good cleaning and the dorm we stayed in was smelly and cramped as there was no real window. Some members of the staff were drunken and too noisy in the night.

It truly is the best hostel on the South Island! There's hardly anything to critisize actually! Super nice staff, very comfortable beds, free unlimited WIFI, well-equipped kitchen and absolutely clean facilities :-) from staff organisied BBQs make you feel welcome in this amazing Hostel! Enjoyed my second stay as much as my first :-) Keep on Holding this standard! Thumbs up!

A good hostel that many will be happy with. For those who cooked, the kitchen is on the small side and would likely be packed during 'peak' hours.

There had been a flooded room and so we got moved into a six bed dorm instead of a four which wouldn't have bothered me if they had have communicated this with us. A little dirty but overall not too bad.

Really enjoyed my stay here. Staff are very welcoming and friendly. Perfect location, very close to the shops and bars, plus all the buses stop outside so no need to carry your bags very far.Great balcony over looking the sea, spent many hours sat in the sun reading my book there and having bbq's. If just passing through kaikoura or staying for a couple of days I highly recommend this place.

A quirky littlle hostel with tons of ambience. In the common area you can chat with other travellers or watch DVDs lolling in the leather loungers. The bright murals give the common areas a bright look. The location is smack in the center of town. The dorm beds are quite sturdy. Free internet. Residents are also allowed to use common areas after checking out when waiting for their respective transport, which is a nice touch.

Very helpful and friendly owner, Craig. It's in a superb location - across from the beach and bus-stops on the main street of Kaikoura. The beds were really comfortable and it was nice and quiet after 10pm, thankfully as I was rising early to see the whales.
