One of the best hostel I've ever stayed at. All three staff I met were very friendly and helpful. When I checked in, the staff were busy but still spent at least five minutes to give me an extensive introduction of the city, show me my room and common facilities. I was even upgraded to a better room than that I booked. Wi-fi was nice. Security was guaranteed by security camera and lockers in the room. Great atmosphere as well For so little money you pay, it really offers a lot.

facilities : Though this hostel was opened only 1 year ago, they increased a new wing recently. Therefore it is quite clean and comfortable. Bar : Due to the expansion of new one, it has now really really nice bar! We can communicate with other guests and of course we can also relax ourselves at this bar. Actually I really enjoyed with talking with many other guests, playing billiards, watching movies and joining a dinner party there. staff : the stuff are very friendly and always helpful.

I genuinely enjoyed my time at Five Elements. The staff were unbelievably helpful and accommodating. The hostel's organic garden, two golden retrievers, prime location to mountains and Old Town, and cozy atmosphere made it an unforgettable experience. I would recommend this hostel highly. I would also recommend talking with the staff as much as possible-- they are helpful, interesting, and friendly.

We had a great time at the Five Elements Hostel. The location is very good. The hostel is located on a quiet place, while the Dali city centre is within a five minute walk from the hostel. What we also liked was the new bar. In the evening you can enjoy good western cocktails (even tequila!) and there is nice live music. A good place to meet new people. Besides, the staff is also very kindly, helpfull and they can speak good English. We would definitely recommend the Five Elements Hostel!

The hostel itself was nice, but we had some issues with it. First, in our room's building there was only ONE shower and toilet, while most of the showers were in a different building. The bigger problem is that we had too many issues with the staff during our stay. We asked our laundry to be dried in the drier since we had to leave the next day, but it was sun-dried despite our request; They booked a bus for us and told us a wrong pick-up time which caused us a waste of time and more issues...

The room was nice for what we were paying and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The water and the toilet in our room stopped working after the second day, but was not a major issue because there was a toilet just down the hall. The flashing lights outside our window were very annoying when trying to go to sleep.

Be warned: There is no secure place to lock your belongings at this hostel. The lockers provided under the beds are both too small for the average traveler's pack, and weak enough for a child to break into. There is no back on the under-bed lockers, so when you pull the bed away from the wall you have access to whatever has been "locked up". They offer to keep your valulable items in their "safe", which is code for behind the front desk that is only manned half of the time.

It is in a quiet area & close walking distance to the old town. Clean rooms. Fun activities each night. What was disappointing for us was the grass area no longer exists, facebook access didn't work and they don't book train tickets (I think this is due to passport requirements)-all facilities which we had deliberately chosen this place for. The toilet also squealed & the sound of water draining was annoying. Staff are friendly & helpful. Good bar selection. Food ok.

The staff were excellent...very helpful and attentive even though their English was limited. The food was also very good. A lot of effort has been made to make the hostel comfortable and inviting. Daily activities in the evenings like dumpling making and movie nights are an example of the efforts made. Great value for money and a very pleasant place to stay near the old town. Highly recommended.
