Great value and quality service. Location excellent.
Nice hostel, very good wifi. It's a pity that the water needs so long to get warm (5 minutes), quite a waste of water!
I was very happy with my stay. I have been traveling a lot in China, this is one of the best hostels in China.
Great atmosphere and delicious breakfast food, and very helpful, friendly staff! I wish that the rooms had lockers for valuables (I felt a little nervous about my stuff getting stolen or damaged), though the staff was nice enough to keep my electronics at the desk for me. I loved the comfy lounge and the location was wonderful!
It was a very nice hostel in a very nice town! It was a pity we only had one day to enjoy it.
Lovely courtyard to sit in on a sunny day, complete with a variety of pets, including two tiny kittens, which made my stay! The breakfasts were excellent and the communal area comfortable, with lots to do. Make sure if you get the bus from Lijiang to get off at the old town (not sure of the Chinese) and not Xiaguan.
Good, clean hostel 10 mins from the enticing chaos of the old city market streets. I paid 25 RMB for a dorm. The menu is limited for vegetarians but their Yunnan coffee is good. The staff is always smiling and they have good bikes for hire at 30 RMB/day. They need more toilets, though. There was only one on the second floor. This hostel is highly recommended.
There is a nice big space where you can socialize, play card, wachtch movies, pooltable, nice garden and more places to relax. The staff is helpfull
this place has a good atmosphere, two cute cats, and i liked the bike they rented me!
I enjoyed my time here and would happily stay here again. I was lucky enough to stay here during the Naxi Torch Festival and got to join the staff as they participated and took us around the town. The food was also delicious and the atmosphere was serene and lovely. Definintely recommend this one!
Hostel was hard to locate as instructions given on email were not clear. Other than that, everything else was fine.
Great hostel with great staff. Super cheap too. Located outside the western wall, maybe a 5 min walk to old town, but it offered some peace and quiet when returning for the night while still maintaining a close enough proximity.
Very nice hostel: could do with more staff though as had to wait for someone to appear a couple of times at reception/bar.
Five Elements has a very familiar feel to it. Staff is very friendly and all needs are catered for. Movie night and dumpling class are a great opportunity to meet fellow travellers in the cosy communal area. Be aware that a big but very friendly dog and two cats will share the communal space with you. All in all a great, quiet place just a short walk away from the old town and its noisy tourist masses.
Very nice family-run place. Good atmosphere, excellent staff and really great food, both western and Chinese. Nice common area and only a short walk from the bus and the old town, all that you want!
Had a wonderful two nights here! A couple of the staffs spoke English and were very helpful in directing me places to hike. The food here is excellent! It was very quiet in the night as it's away from the busyness of old town Dali. Really glad to have stayed here.
We had a great stay in the 5 elements. Really good location either for hiking the mountains or visiting old town!

Very good place, well located and alot of stuff going on (movies, cooking classes, pool, etc etc). Plus its very cheap for what there is and its location. I definitely recommend it!

Really great place. Relaxed yet sociable, helpful staff, clean, good internet. One of the best hostels I stayed in China.
