Very enjoyable stay. Great location. Room clean and comfortable. Staff really accommodating - lent us several guidebooks that were really helpful during our stay.

The location was perfect and it was a very great value for your money! The receptionist who checked us in was very friendly, spoke great English for having taught himself and helped me print off a train ticket. Definitely recommend it!

[FYI, stayed in another building across the hostel for private room] Home-like, spacious room for 2, CCTV in the corridor & kitchen, close to everything (after all, Florence is small), hot water worked. The male receptionist wasn't particularly helpful, the one who did the cleaning was amazing; the restaurant recommended across the hostel - terrible service. Had to work out how the toilet key exactly worked (never tuck it too deep in the keyhole). Big kitchen but nth for cooking. Toaster yes.

The owner(s) were the most amazing people i've ever met. They alone made it worth it.

Didn't realize we would get kicked out of the hostel every day from 10 am until 2 pm! Also wish they would have told me that I couldn't check in until 2 pm instead of asking me what time I would like to check in. I said I would be there at noon and then I got there and wasn't let in to my room until 2 pm. The shower was very small and the toilet very hard to flush. But I liked that the rooms were cleaned every day and the location was excellent!

Owner Comment (Show)
Hi, I was waiting for your comment but I think you remember very good what I was explaining you about the checking time. You are kindly ask from hostelworld website to estimate your arrival time and I've told you that is very important for us, because we are not open 24h. So, if anyone write the arrival time at 3.00am (and of course like you did not write the policy) we have a possibility to write e-mail saying that we are not open 24h. And I explained this to you very well, because you were so angry. But next time is easier and less complicated to read all the policy before you book. About the lock out from 10.00 to 14.00 (which have 90% of hostels) it was mentioned as well. So, please don't complein and don't write the stuff which is mentioned in the content of site of Hostelworld. One more time- read everything before! Thanks

Fabulous position. Our rooms were in a different building to reception, three floors up after we had carried cases up one floor to reception at the address stated. Reception is not always manned. Told we could have breakfast in main building but they did not answer the door bell so could not get in .In our building three double/twin rooms had one bathroom to share with toilet in bathroom. This is unsatisfactory. Nice kitchen

The staff & little notes around the hostel were quite helpful during our visit to Florence! Facilities were good - wifi, computer...there was only one shower for those booking a shared room but it was never a problem. We booked a double bed private which was two twins pushed together, not a big deal though. Breakfast was 2.50 for cereal, coffee, juice, pastries, yogurt, fruit. Location is great, would recommend!

Wonderful hostel with great staff. No locker which made me uncomfortable leaving valuables in the shared room.

The best! Location (the city center, the very center!) and personnel (supportive and helpful) and atmosphere (very friendly, kinda family, and authentic). My number one.

This hostel was more than perfect for us--our room had a terrace with an amazing view and Daniel (one of the owners) went out of his way to make us more than comfortable. He gave us numerous maps with directions to the best pubs, restaurants, train station/minimetro and advice. We couldn't have asked for better service, especially when we messed up our reservation, he made sure everyone had a place to stay with towels, linens, and anything else we could need. Also the best possible location!!

When I got to the hostel at 5pm, around the time I said I would check in (you have to tell them what time you're going to be there as it is not staffed 24/7, so if you're train or planes late - good luck getting in), there was no one to let me in and I waited for over an hour in a dark hallway for my room, just what you want to be doing after a long day of travel. Once the guy that works the desk finally came back, they were rude. Brutal common area (worst couch ever) and just overall bad place.

Dear guest, about the arrival time, it is wrote on the website that if you arrive at different time that you mentioned before, you could stay outside for some time...so, if your train or plain arrive late you could advice us about the problem by phone or by mail (in every city you can find internet point close to the train station or at the airport. Remember to read everything before you book, because when you read the policy and you don't like it you can book another hostel without any problem. And your arrival time was at 15.00, in fact you were late. I'm really sorry that you were scared in the dark hallway with 3 windows looking on on one of the main streets in Florence. I'm not rude, but if you think I'm, so only with people, who has no education or no respect. Because you shoud know that is not a good education to lay down on the small couch at the reception with your shoes on it, actually one leg on the couch's arm and another one on the coffee machine. It is not nice for others to see it, believe me. And I can believe that was the worst couch ever, because the size of it is 1.30m and you are tall 1.85m. I wish that the next time when you sit down at the couch, which is not yours and is in the pubblic place to have some education, do not behavior like a "forest man". Thanks

Nice enough hostel in an excellent location. It is perfect place to stay if all you want is a bed and a shower with basic facilities. The hostel doesn't really have a common room and isn't a great place to meet people (poor social atmosphere). Also my travelling mate advises me to inform you that top bunk position is less than desirable as the bed rocks and there is no place to put belongings without them falling down the crack. Nevertheless we did enjoy our stay in Florence, what a lovely city!

Florence Youth Hostel is really like a small hotel -- perhaps the hostel atmosphere is more in evidence in the high season. I really enjoyed staying here -- it's very clean and quiet, and the staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful.

A small hostel owned by a very nice couple, however I think they need to hire someone else. It's not a hostel with 24 hour staff availability. Unfortunately I had to wait 20 minutes to check in as they were busy cleaning and also waited another 20 minutes when I was locked out of the hostel and had left my luggage to be stored before I went to catch the train. With just one day in Florence, I was in a bit of a rush. The room and bathrooms were very clean, but the smell of bleach was a bit strong

Thanks for your comment Jill. We have another person to work as well, but was sick that day. We don't have to have 24 h staff availability, because of this, u can stay in the most amazing location in Florence for 27€ in the single room. And Jill u have to remember that I did the check in for you very quick, and it was only 5min to wait. You didn't even want to listing the rules with the key-what's very important, because you didn't have time. We're sorry, but really it wasn't our problem that you had only one day in Florence, you like everyone else have to do the check in with the registration. Anyway are happy that the rooms and bathrooms are very clean...this is very important for us.

Great place, and amazing location. One issue was there was only one shower for a large number of people. Luckily, I didn't need to shower, but some of my friends needed to wait for the shower. Otherwise helpful staff, good vibes in the hostel, and very safe.
