The staff was lovely and helpful and the athomsphere was great! They do some special activities for their guests like showing them Chinese fights or how you professionally serve in other countries and so on. Unfortunately it looks as there is no cleaning person working there, since the bathrooms and specially the kitchen look very bad... Anyway highly recommendable if you don't care too much about that point...

I stayed here for several nights in December. The location is excellent. Just make sure you have the map printed out for how to get there and have the hostel's # in case you can't find it. Anyway, the room I stayed in was a 6 bed dorm. It was clean, comfortable and al around great. The bathrooms were modern and clean as well. The beds are also SO comfortable. They give you free internet (wifi and comp), breakfast until 9:30am, and big white towels.

The hostel is great! A little minus were the cold rooms and the water was sometimes not really warm. However, I expected that because of the courtyard style, which I anyways wanted to experience. Big pluses were the fast answers on e-mail, very comfortable and nice beds, sheets and towels as well as the supermarket and subway around the corner. I stayed in the female room with bathroom ensuite which was lovely.

Located in East 2nd ring of Beijing City, it is 5 minutes away from the nearest metro station and walkable to Tianmen in good weather. Shower is hot and dorm room is warm even when outside was freezing cold. Very clean dorm and bathroom with showers and slippers provided. No shoes and changing into slippers in the dorm room helped a lot in keeping dorm clean. Free kungfu classes on weekends and excellent free breakfast! Helpful and warm staff creates great atmosphere. Must try!! Thanks so much!!

The hostel is easily accessible by subway. It is a moderate walk to the Forbidden City. I enjoyed participating in complementary cultural events at the hostel including weekend martial arts. The facilities are very clean. The beds have very comfortable mattresses. The blankets are much higher quality than normally find at hostels. The blanket kept me comfortably warm during the very cold Beijing nights. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. It was very easy to meet interesting guests.

Great experience! I would work on the heat in the rooms during the winter and I would also keep the bathrooms cleaner if possible especially in the dorms. Otherwise this place had great character, the owners are super nice! and they have delicious free breakfast included in the price of the stay. I would definitely visit again for the experience of living in a hutong

It is a special hostel hidden inside "hu-tong". With great location and surrounded by old Beijing lifestyle.Courtyard is really neat, sophisticated also with some fun ingredients hidden .I surprised by their free kung-fu lesson and the "free" atmosphere in this special forbidden city.I really happy to choose this hostel and enjoyed the city a lot far more than I expected.
