They told us that there was a shuttle to bring us to Amsterdam, and we'd got to take a train and a bus = 14E extra...

good place to stay , but remember 1h drive to Amsterdam .if hostel has no more room in the van it will cost you 10 euro. plus you sleep underneath bar where music is very loud .I would stay again and would recommend to stay there .

next to the beach, lovely atmosphere, nice staff, free breakfast (cereal, toast, jam, peanut butter, cheese, coffee, tea), not so cheap though... I slept in a 22 bed dorm, which is seperated in 2 areas + 2 showers + 1 toilet. was good for such a big room, a bit crowded though, but that's normal. for those who want to be close to Amsterdam this is not the right choice (1-1,5 hours drive with public transport, ca. 15euros). but nice spot to be right at the beach! really nice and friendly staff..

Friendly staff, nice and clean hostel, the only inconvenience was two bathrooms for the whole floor, had to wait half an hour to take a shower in the morning.

I would definitely recommend this hostel because of its location by the beach. It would be a great place to party, but if you're not into getting high, then the facilities are adequate, what you expect.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay, But for the WiFi to be out for 50% of my stay is unacceptable. Also, If you only give us a lock box, then it is irresponsible to allow the people checking in to come in before the current occupants have checked out! Did have a good time though

The hostel was fine. Personality was chill and that was refreshing. I dont like it when hostels don't have an outlet for every bed. Additionally a €15 key deposit is simply ridiculous. Also it is stupid that they say no personal alcohol in the common area after 8. While this wasn't enforced while I was there I would have been very upset if it was. Hostels are supposed to be be home/havens for people traveling cheap. I don't think it is cool to not allow them to drink their own drinks.

Awesome little hostel, will definitely stay again. Really enjoyed the friendly atmosphere, helpful staff and the smoking room during the day, with some good rock music playing. Handy location for the bus to Keukenhof. Breakfast was good, not as plentiful as the FP Uptown hostel and we really missed the orange juice. In the evening, the smoking room could have done with being bigger as it was packed, and the drum n' bass got a bit repetetive. Wouldn't recommend it if you don't like stoners!

Overall this is a very nice hostel. However, if you are spending your times mostly in Amsterdam, it's not a good idea to stay in here. It is far away from Amsterdam, and they charge for the shuttle 4 euros one way except for the day you check in and out (not free service as it is stated online).

I was highly impressed by the staff in the hostel..everyone was so friendly and supportive. Just to give an example .. The reception usually close down at in the night and opens up next morning , we missed our keys and we were shivering outside the hostel at 4 AM in the morning , we didnot have any other choice than calling the staff member and he was courteous to take our call at that time and opened the door for us.

Definitely a place to meet new people, esp. if you are staying in the 22 beds dorm. But if you're looking for some rest, maybe you can try the more expensive hotels nearby Noordwijk. Party on!!! I had to leave early because of work but if i'm going anywhere near west netherlands/amsterdam, i'm surely going back to the flyingpig!!!

Planning on staying closer to the city but a happy mistake. Of the 4 hostels we booked for spring break, this was our favorite. Much further from the city center than we planned: 30 minutes by train and 30 minutes by bus from the city center-12 euro each way. We spent more on transportation than we had planned. Leiden, between Amsterdam and Noordwijk, was fun. Very different from the city, but a great little town. So glad we booked this! But remember, it's a full hour away from the city

I actually original booked this hostel by accident (I was supposed to book Flying Pig Uptown) but it turned out to be the best decision I had made. The staff are an absolutely lovely bunch of people - extremely friendly and welcoming, and of course good fun to just hang out with. The location is fantastic - right on the beach and only 30 minute bus ride from Leiden. I would definitely recommend coming through here during the winter if you're looking to escape the hussel and bussel of Amsterdam.
