It was really cold at night and the bathrooms were a bit crappy but overall it was ok.

We stayed on the coldest weekend, and they did not turn on the heat in the room at all. One of the customers had to ask them to turn on the heat, even after other workers came into the room to clean the beds, and remarked on how cold it was. The showers also all smelled very strongly like mold.

Breakfast exceeded my expectations.Tasty & more than enough for everyone. It was clean overall. There were 2 downsides: 1) the staff: it took an hour for them to check us in. There was no particular activity or atmosphere that brought people together. People at reception could be more friendly. There was only one plug in the room for everyone so that causes allocation prob. However overall I enjoyed it, and would recommend to others. Cheers.

I had to cancel my first night and according to your staff didnt give enough advance noitice. When I arrived and asked to see the email, the girl at reception said she couldn't locate it. When I asked to speak with a manager, I was continually given excuses as to why she couldn't speak with me (she was on the phone, at the store, ect) I came back to the desk a total of 3 times over the course of 3 hours. I dont appreciate being given the run around, incredibly unprofessional

What an amazing bunch of people! Every single member of staff made me feel welcome, despite my nervousness of travelling alone before I met up with friends already staying there. Free breakfast was fully appreciated, as well as a hot brew in the morning! It's set in such a beautiful and green location you couldn't tell you were in a city until you left the street onto the road. I will be making my way back one day soon :)

We could not open the window in our room for six people. We didn't appreciate that very much. Otherwise we had a very pleasant stay at FPU.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, the bar downstairs has a fun atmosphere and is a good place to hang out (free wi-fi too!) I would stay there again.

average and a little bit of cleanliness

Great place to stay for solo travelers, the smoking room allows you to meet lots of people and chill. Staff was very friendly. The toilets and showers were a bit small, but apart from that a great place to stay. The hostel can be noisy from the bar late into the night so bring earplugs or stay else if you're looking for quiet.

The FPU provides exactly what it advertises on its website. The Amsterdam party vibe, but for the more mellow or cultural traveller. The staff and guests were all friendly, and on the top floor I slept in bliss every night. Other reviews complain of small toilets or to many stairs. If this is an issue for you, I suggest you rethink visiting Amsterdam all together as they are NL standard. Everything was mostly clean and tidy. Using your locker is a must, I advise to keep an eye on your things. :)

Great atmosphere, nice staff, clean rooms (but horrible stains on the mattresses). Guests OK, not messy little kids. Location OK, but if you know that you'll often hang around downtown consider staying there: it's a long way and the tramways are expensive. Only disappointment: the "party hostel" definition. Daily tours and pub crawls are the only organized events, then the only chance of meeting up with some other guests is sitting in the bar. Do they think that nobody travels to Amsterdam solo?

Nice, free and easy hostel, great atmosphere! The only strengthening thing was the night in the busy 8-people room, which didn't allow much sleep..

Room, toilets and shower not very clean on arrival, but improved throughout stay. Overall we enjoyed our stay but didn't feel the hostel was especially welcoming/friendly and the overall vibe wasn't very sociable.

I've stayed in a lot of hostels whilst travelling and i can honestly say this was my favourite hostel! The staff were fantastic, lots of free jager flying around, and we couldn't manage to leave the hostel bar any night as it was so much fun! Highly reccomend, great great fun :).

highly recommend the pig! amazing atmosphere, really laid back. I'd say the only problem, if you can call it that, is its a bit out of the center, but its still near so many other things, totally worth the distance!
