I really enjoyed Fortaleza hostel. The location is quite far from the city but that is what I like. If you want somewhere peaceful and that has a cabin-in-the-woods feel to it this is the place to stay. Wonderful, friendly, helpful staff as well!

We, as a family, found this place to be quaint. Mariel is the best staff member! She helped us out with everything we needed and was very sociable. We felt very comfortable. It is a bit out of the city center, BUT there is SO much to do very close by, because so many sights ARE outside of the city. The bus to take you to the city is very close. Our only complaint is that the walls are a bit thin, you can hear everything that is going on in the house early in the morning or late at night.
I really enjoyed staying at Fortaleza Hostel! It's nestled nicely in a woodsy area outside of the city center of Bariloche, and it's walking distance from some nice beaches and the famous Cerro Campanario. Make sure you have a bus ticket with enough pesos on it for multiple rides. The only place near the hostel that will recharge your card is at a kiosk about 2.5 km away. Not too far of a walk, but can be frustrating as it's on a busy road (but hey, more opportunities to try and hitchhike!)
We loved our stay at fortaleza!! Absolutely great staff! A bit out of Bariloche but great for hiking, going to the lake and much more quiet than the city... It was very hard to leave that beautiful place...
Very nice hostel with an amazing atmosphere and very friendly staff!
A cozy alpine style hostel located near some of the greatest hiking trails in the area. Friendly staff, laundry service, lockers, good kitchen equipment, everything you'd expect from a good hostel. Good breakfast with pancakes included.
If you rather not stay in the busy city center, this Is a great choice. Easy to get to and great atmosphere
Overall we liked Fortaleza and the staff were really nice and helpful. It has everything you need in a hostel, the breakfasts are very good but it is quite out of the way, there is only one male and one female bathroom for the whole hostel and the small number of guests can mean the atmosphere is a bit lacking at non-busy times. A good hostel, but we've stayed at better.
Warm, cosy and friendly, Mariel and Marion made us feel right at home. She even invited us to enjoy a BBQ with all her friends on our first night! Breakfast was great, the place smelt and looked spotlessly clean and the dorms are spacious with comfortable beds. Only thing to bear in mind if you don't have a car - supermarket is 20 mins walk and the buses can be infrequent/unreliable! That said, location is great for Cerro Campanario (a must do) and for exploring the National Park!
I was made to feel really at home.Everybody there was great .The facilities were exellent and the breakfast tremendous
This was an amazing Hostel! Mariell made us pancakes in the morning which was fabulous. Do not be put off by the fact that it is not in the centre of Bariloche as everything you want to do is outside the city anyway :D Easy access to many attractions you want to see, Circuito Chico and Cerro Campanario to name a few! The staff there were all wonderful and it is super secure. You need a fob to get in and rooms are well maintained. They have boys and girls bathrooms too! All in all wonderful!
This place was more than likely my favorite hostel on the trip I had in South America. And in a log cabin! That made it even better. The atmosphere was so chill and Mariel and Sebastian were extremely knowledgeable/helpful the whole time we were staying at Fortaleza. Thanks so much!
