The person at the front desk in the morning was new and didn't know what he was doing. The other employees were very helpful, but the new employee should not have been at the front desk by himself.

The staff member was indeed new but he had ample training to do his job. He has worked enough shifts with other staff members and a few by himself already. He should have been able to do his job perfectly. I have since brought him back in to the office to ensure he is confident in the position. He is a good guy and I am enthusiastic that he will do a great job from here on in.

I thought the hostel was great. I was really happy to have warm water from the shower after walking around all day. All in all, it is a safe, secure place to reside for a short term.

Many thanks. Now surely a great hostel deserves better than 77% rating though, eh.. eh... Enjoy the rest of your trip.

Many thanks to you for your kind words. Glad you had a great stay. (but one thing to mention, surely if you had no complaints, 80% rating, whilst not bad, doesn't match up..don't be shy, fell free to give us ratings to match your great comments...it'll make us happy.) Enjoy the rest of your travels...and the rest of your life too. Cheers.

Everything was great. I only had two small issues. The 20 second shower button. While you "can" just keep pressing the button it dos get slightly annoying, but I do come from a country plentiful of water so I'm just spoiled. The other is the breakfast. What they do offer is fine, I was just hoping for some form of protein.. eggs, cold cuts, would have been nice. Those two things are very negligible though. Overall Excellent hostel, a great stay for any person.

Eggs and bacon would be great but seriously, you guys are going to have to start paying a proper bed rate before that can happen. Glad you had a good stay with us and enjoyed your time in Dublin. We appreciate the good rating.

our say at the hostel was just ok. It was not bad but not really good either. It was a bit far from the center, there were no lockers in the room, nor places to put down stuff in the room. Shades could have been nice, as the outside street light was really bright and kept making me think it is morning... And a nice face lift might give the place a nicer feel to it.

Depends on what you call the center Lee, with Dublins oldest pub, Jameson Distillery, Guinness storehouse, Kilmainham jail all within walking distance on our left and Christ church, St, Patricks Cathedral and Temple bar just to our right I would consider our location to be the belly button of activity. There are cages/lockers under the beds numbered to correspond with the bed that has been assigned to you. Feel free to use your own lock or rent one from reception. All rooms have curtains but if you have a lower room in front of a bright street light it may shine through... Facelift ?.. most rooms have been recently painted and new extra showers have been installed in the hallways of each floor. We do what we can but in a happy bustling hostel it can be hard to get to everything, it's been busy but we try and continue to do so. If you arrive with a smile you'll leave with a smile.

Great place. Felt very safe with the security, lots of activities to do when hanging out around the hostel. Staff was very friendly and helpful with answering any questions about the area. Included breakfast was great! The only complaint I would have is that there was no hand soap in the washrooms in our rooms, and the hand soap dispenser in the common washroom downstairs was empty the whole time I was there, so slightly unsanitary! But otherwise I really enjoyed my stay!

Nine of us (college students) stayed in the ten person mixed dorm and we shared one bathroom. It was a bit difficult to take a shower because you have to keep pressing the button for water to come out and there's no temperature knob. But other than that, the location was awesome and the rooms were really clean with lockers under the bed. Although the breakfast wasn't the best, it was nice to have some toast and cereal before leaving early for the airport.

There are extra showers available at the end of each floor, right outside the 8bed and 10 bed dorms. Push button showers help reduce water waste and make the world a better place... We should bring out a new policy where you can eat and enjoy breakfast only if you actually appreciate it. No more eating our food and then giving out about it...what do you say? seems fair to me. Cheers for your nice comments regards location and the rooms. Mighty fine.

The housekeeping staff was rude on 3 separate occasions (I stayed only 1.5 days). My room was dirty, the bathroom even worse. There is one outlet in the room and it is only accessible by the bed whose directly next to it. Their idea of "linens" was a thin, old comforter. They do not provide towels. The front desk was more concerned with their own conversations than with checking me in - I had to listen to a 5 minute complaint regarding the status of the internet before I could get my key. AWFUL!

Owner Comment (Show)
Our checking in system is online and reliant on the internet. Electricians were in doing their annual check up so the net was off for a short time which may slow up the check-in process. . This very rarely would happen but if it does, relax, chill out and all will work out...maybe even join in with the conversation. Ah, I remember easy going laid back friendly backpacker like it was yesterday.. I am confused though regards your review: You stayed for one night on the 11th. You then left and returned for 3 more nights on the 14th. If your initial stay was bad it makes no sense that you would return for 3 extra nights (and in the same 'dirty' room too). I will check with house-keeping staff to get their version of events. You comment regarding dirty room etc can be viewed as a backlash at them. Towels are available for rent at reception as with most hostels, Private rooms have towels included. There are 3 outlets in each 6 bed dorm and each outlet has 2 sockets. We are always happy to get guests feedback but please guys ensure you get your information right so as to not confuse other guests.

Overall good experience. My only negative comment is nowhere to hang a towel or clean clothes in the bathroom of my dorm. While I could've left that stuff in the dorm and come out wet and naked, I probably shouldn't in a unisex dorm. I dumped the stuff into a rubbish sack to keep it clean though so wasn't such a big deal.

Yep, valid point our nearly naked nomad.

I found the hostel very relaxed but well organised with attentive, obliging staff who interacted with guests and made everyone feel very welcome.

It s a good option, clean, nice atmosphere, cheap but I have some concerns> i think is not good that you have to pay if you want to borrow an adaptor and then they dont give you the money back Also the location was not as good as i expected, it a bit far from the city centre

Dude Where's the city center? Our Location is pretty great really. All your must do places are surrounding us, Guinness, Brazen head, Jameson Distillery, ChristChurch and Temple Bar. Great river view too. We have adaptors to rent for the duration of your stay or if you just want to borrow one for an hour that's fine as long as we get your ID. Just one of the many little things we thought of to make things easy for you all. People forget to return things sometimes so we don't just hand them out. By charging a small fee or holding ID it reduces greatly the requests and means we can supply to the guests that really do need stuff.

The hostel is nice enough but noise is out of control, the private rooms for a few people are right next to 16 person rooms and there seems to be no control over people running through the halls knocking on doors and yelling in the middle of the nights for several nights in a row. Th security of the building is actually quite good, but if you are touring and want to sleep it might be tough.

We want all our guests to have a relaxed and good time. The private rooms have phones which call directly down to reception. Also at the end of each hallway there is a phone which can be used also. Any problems let us know at the time and we will gladly sort it. The hostel is staffed 24 hours so there is always someone available.

All in all, a great place. Free WiFi is available in common areas, but common areas were often too loud for Skype calls, and the kitchen was very crowded! Very clean, super helpful and friendly staff, free city tours, secure building, and showers were hot and always available. I started in a private room with shared bath and would definitely return here next trip to Dublin.

I liked my stay at 4C very much. The staff are great. The location is perfect. It's clean and the rooms are ok for the price. I stayed at shared dorms and they are as in most places. I asked for a change of bed and the staff were very nice and accommodating. The only drawback is noise in common areas (that's not the hostel's fault of course, just the noisy guests who are much younger than me and in party mood) but the rooms on the third floor were not noisy at all. I'd definetely reccommend it.

The staff were great. They helped us with where to go, and advised a pub crawl. [always a bonus] Though I didnt experience it, [i was asleep] some of my group I was with said that there was live music in the downstairs area and it was very chilled out and relaxed. We'd definitely stay again.
