The Four Courts Hostel was awesome! The staff was soooooo friendly and they answered the many questions we had. Malichy (not sure of spelling) was especially great. My friend and I met three other girls who were visiting Dublin on their own and we became fast friends, even going on tours and for meals together. That was key to how great our vacation turned out. Can't really say enough great things. The things that come with a stay are amazing! Free WiFi and international calls?! LOVED IT.

Staff was extremely nice and helpful. Location was good and walkable to all attractions in Dublin. Free internet was VERY helpful for researching things to do and booking day trips - also staying in touch with back home when needed. Rooms were very clean and comfortable.

Hostel is alright it's just so big with different travelers that it's not a great place to meet people. Also, my credit card was electronically stolen on the computers when I booked a flight on Ryanair. Not sure if computers cached my info or if Ryanair sold it (ha) but either way I don't think I'll be back.

Lucas, sorry to hear you have problems with your card. If your credit card details were taken electronically you do not know from where, yet you point your finger at us? That is unacceptable. We do cache our computers every week and there is a firewall in place also. Ryanair probably have the best security features available but regardless of that it is not relevant here in a comment section regarding our hostel. We have no control over what sites you go on. We are a big hostel with different travellers from various parts of the world...which the great thing about hostels. There is a free walking tour everyday and a pubcrawl every night which are great for meeting people. There is also a free Barbecue every Thursday night with live Irish music.

One problem is that toilets are inadequate compared to the number of beds in the dorms. For istance the 12 beds dorm and the 18 beds dorm are connetted and share the same bathroom (ensuite), composed of only two showers (1 of them out of order), two sinks and two WC: too little especially if dorms are crowded. Another problem are windows, that are without wasistas: so it is difficult renewing air in the dorms

The hostel was clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. The hostel wasn't particularly a good place to mingle but that may be a symptom of the large groups that come for NYE. As a seasoned hostel pubcrawler I definitely wouldn't recommend the pub crawl they do (particularly for NYE). We paid 30 euros and got half a guinness, a cheap shot and dragged round a load of loud characterless bars we could have gone for free anyway. To top it off we got left behind by the organiser by 10.30. Poor!

Owner Comment (Show)
Getting left behind @10:30pm? The organizers of the crawl give everyone a 10 minute warning before leaving each pub and then gather everyone together outside en masse before leaving. There were nearly 200 guests on the crawl (divided into 4 groups), majority of those were novices that all managed to cross the finishing line so a seasoned pro like you should hang his head. If you had managed to last longer than a couple of hours you would have received your complimentary glass of Champagne for the New Year countdown, as well as the customary free shot in each bar. It would have been near impossible to gain access to the pubs on New Year's night due to the volume of people but the crawl provided easy guaranteed access without queuing or paying (some venues were charging between €10 and €20 entrance). If you had managed to survive to the end it is possible that you would have enjoyed yourself.

Hostel was well located right on the riverside and an easy walk into town, staff were very helpful and friendly. Only thing to note is we booked a twin room with a private toilet and sink then shared a shower but it seemed like there was just one shower stall to share for the whole floor so we were left waiting ages until this was free, which was inconvenient. TV room and common areas were nice to relax in and the shared kitchen was very handy.

The receptionists were really helpful. Thanks for all the Dublin tips. We went up to Howth and can highly recommend it. Especially on sundays they have a nice little market as well.

A good all round hostel. Comfortable and clean. Main complaint would be the that the wifi only worked in the common room downstairs. Can be annoying sometimes if you need to just do something quickly but have to run downstairs each time.

The idea of switching off heating at 5am to keep residence "fresh" for the breakfast may has some ratio. No harm to ask a spare blanket or go to bed in your winter coat.

The hostel was in a nice location, had a decent 6 person ensuite, and a nice common area downstairs. If I hadn´t known all of my roommates, then I would call the room very small, but we didn´t really spend time in there anyways.
