We had a good stay in Freemans Lodge, our double room was great. The Wifi was fast and free ! The kitchen is too small when there is a lot of people but all the rest is ok. Nice backpacker !

I stayed here at the beginning of my stay and returned at the end because the staff, cleanliness and location of the hostel was so good. It's not a party hostel it's very homely and you get a good kitchen and free wifi. I'd recommend it! :)

We had a fridge in our room which was really nice, the kitchen was great, but it is a little bit far away from the city centre and only one washing machine, the hostel staff was nice and helpfull!

Much nicer than the chain hostels, short walk out of the city. Free wifi and friendly staff (although they were not always easy to find).

I felt cheated for what I paid. Such a small messy broken room. Please renovate!!

Very Nice Owner. She was willing to help us with everything. Upgraded us to a private room because we came in really late and left us a welcome note and city map. Rooms were good. Only bad thing was the kitchen. Very small and a bit dirty.

We stayed there last February for a couple of nights and really enjoyed it! All cleaned, friendly staff, the best hostel in Auckland for us. Private rooms are awesome. A bit far from the city centre, but ok. Would totally come back

Clean, cosy, good location, staff was very helpful, well equipped kitchen. Room that we got was too small, so it was hard to walk around the bed; but other rooms seemed to be bigger.

Wifi for free but very poor sometimes. Rest is ok but not overwhelming.

Great free box, well-stocked herbs & spices in the kitchen, super clean space, friendly staff, free Internet, decent pressure in the showers. Love it here!

The hostel staff is obsessed with cleaning, which is a nice change from other hostels. This does mean vacuum cleaners at 8:30am, though. There's a TV lounge but people are more likely to congregate on the patio for a smoke, which is annoying if you're in one of the adjoining rooms, as the smell drifts in. Otherwise, people mainly keep to themselves, and it's not loud too late, so it's a great oasis after a day of sightseeing. The owners are very friendly as well.
