Average hostel, at least the internet was free, although it was not very difficult obtaining the WiFi while in the basement. Kitchen in the main house is big enough for 2 people to cook at one time, unfortunately there were about 20 people staying in the main house.

The free WiFi is a generous and appreciated gesture, and the dorm I stayed in was clean and airy. No bunkbeds is also a nice touch. While I do select my accommodation based on cleanliness, which, to be fair, takes a great deal of time to keep up, the cleaning here does start a bit early. Being turfed out of the small kitchen at 8.45 am by the staff member cleaning the stove (a bit rudely at that), when I merely wanted to wash my breakfast plate and coffee mug, was a bit odd to me.

This an excellent hostel! A cozy atmosphere, good facilities, friendly, and quiet at night. This is not a party hostel if that's your thing. The best thing about the hostel is it's owner, Seema, who will work hard to make sure you have a good time in New Zealand. She has a lot of info, many connections, and can help you book your holiday the way you want it. So stay here and enjoy!

The hostel is located 15min walk from the main street in Auckland. It is clean and rather calm. Party people do not come here so you can expect to sleep well at night. However, there are also families so if you do like to go out til late and sleep longer in the morning, it's not the right place. Staff is extremely nice and helpful. As soon as I was back in Auckland it was my first choice again.

Very friendly staff. Pleasant enough place to stay but bathrooms could do with a freshen up.

The hostel is in a very convenient location if you wanted a short break away from the hustle and bustle. I came to Auckland for the RWC and this place was ideal. It was a short walk from any transport link, and allowed me enough time to rest in relative peace and quiet. Staff were very friendly and helpful all the way through.

Very friendly staff, really clean and only a 10 minute walk into town. Just dont take their recommendation for car rental (Quality Cars) - biggest cowboys we've ever come across - had to have the AA out 3 times in 2 days!

Freeman's Lodge was a great place to stay in Auckland. Pretty close walk or bus ride to the city centre and VERY nice/helpful staff! The kitchen is amazing- fully stocked with dishes, pots, pans, tea, kettle, microwave, toaster, spices, etc. Lots of people cooked there and it was a great way to save money on food.

This hostel offered a really great price during the world cup opening weekend, compared to a lot of the other hostels in Auckland which raised their prices by A LOT. It's about 15 minutes to walk to the centre, very quiet location, but the people were absolutely lovely and the rooms were clean and cosy. It felt like being at home, everyone there were so friendly and welcoming, I would definitely recommend this hostel to everyone!

I can't fault it, great place to be and very affordable too. The staff is very nice and bends over backwards for you. The hostel itself is very clean and has a lot of character. It's not too big and you get to meet interesting people. Wifi is free and there are plenty of kitchens, fridges and showers all over the place. There are even computers in some rooms. In fact I like it so much that I changed my plans and stayed a couple more days, in fact I'm still there as I'm typing this. Great place.
