Friendly staff and great location, but a tad too expensive for what you get. Beds aren't as comfortable as other hostels I've stayed in.

Great location and friendly staff, but unfortunately I came away covered in bed bug bites. My stay was Thursday, May 24th. They say they're aware of the issue and replacing the wood bunks with metal ones, but I found this out only after spending a night in the bottom level of one of the wood bunks. My actual stay was great, but the extensive collection of red itchy bites I received as a souvenir makes it impossible to recommend until this issue is solved.

There isn't any air conditioned in the hotel therefore they have electrical fans in each room that are switched on 24 hours a day- yes that is even during the night, so don't forget your ear plugs if you plan on sleeping.

Hello, I just want to warn you that my friend who was with me last week-end has been bite by bedbugs all over her body. We were first in room 3 for Thursday and Friday nights and in room 5 for Sunday and Monday nights. I believe it is very important to check the sanity of your rooms in order to control that invasion and maintain the quality of your services! Sincerely! Maryline

Overall, my stay itself was good. Central location, clean place. Very expensive for a hostel. The one major complain I have was that the breakdown of charges was really dodgy! The "final" charges billed by Hostelworld do not included taxes!!! Be prepared to add another ~14% or so!! Furthermore, the followup confirmation email by the hostel itself and the final billing do not include a transparent breakdown of all the charges - only just a mysterious number. Staff member was very rude in reply.

GREAT location. Just steps away from North Station. Bars next door so you don't have to worry about making your way back to the hostel after a long night of drinking.

BEWARE OF BED BUGS Hi I stayed in the hostel on Tuesday 16th and Wednesday 17th May On the first night I did not get bitten, I stayed on the top bunk which was quite difficult to access so I changed to a lower bunk. I awoke in the morning to find myself covered in bites from face to feet. When I told the hostel they acted in differently and could not care less. I was really upset and being bitten and them not caring less. I now have lots of bites all over me that are very itchy.

Very well located hostel with friendly staff and cosy atmosphere. Literally in downtown. However, it could be much cleaner, beds for example. And more secure too. Finally, extreme noise from the outside makes it almost impossible to sleep in the rooms looking at the street (especially at weekends). Good choice for the night or two, but not sure if I could stay there for longer than that.

It is close to North station. So it's easy for you to the subway. Facilities are a little bit old. There are many bars on the same street, so it's quite annoying at midnight.

A nice hostel, which only suffers from lack of space, possibly due to its (convenient) downtown location. Kitchen and luggage room are minimal, space in common room and bedroom is quite limited too. Otherwise, bit expensive, but a cool experience, so I recommend it.

my experience was awful as some guests were being unruely, but the night staff person handled the situation horribly, practically challenging one of the guests to a fight. I have stayed in dozens of hostels, and never seen such behavior from a staff.

The Friend street Hostel is in a perfect location for anyone looking to spend a night at the TD Garden, or in the North End. It is surrounded by sports bars, italian and irish pubs, as well as a green line subway station. I did not spend much time in the Hostel, so I cannot remark on the common room. However, it did offer internet, laundry, and a full kitchen. The building is not very big, rather compact. But the foam mattresses are surprisingly comfortable. They are little more strict than most

It would be a good thing, if there were boards on the top banks, where you can place your belongings like keys and glasses. Otherwise a great hostel, best place in Boston!

The hostel is super clean and nice, and the atmosphere is great. Great location, close to the subway and just in downtown Boston. The free breakfast is pretty basic, but good anyway. Only problem: the wooden floors are incredibly noisy when someone steps on them. Anyway, I'd defenately recommend this hostel (in fact I'm going to be back next week).

Great location especially during basketball season since the stadium is right down the street. Places to hang out right outside. Fennel Hall is a 10 min walk and the subway is two blocks. Very close to the airport as well. Don't stay in room one since they have air mattresses. It is is in the city so if you are a light sleeper there is street noise. The staff is excellent . Some complained of slow wifi.

Great location, great incredibly friendly staff. I stayed for a 3rd night and got moved into a room that only had airbeds which was weird, and even on the first two nights the beds were pretty rubbish. No alcohol allowed anywhere in the hostel, I thought this was strange and really detracted from the vibe of the hostel. Great location though - Boston is an incredibly walkable city, and I could basically walk everywhere from here or easy walk to a train station. Kitchen wasn't great.
