Almost none to no warm water in the showers, terrible beds, promise of a kitchen which is nonexistant (a ricecooker is not a kitchen!)

Great location, nice staff. But horrible mattresses, covered in plastic, squeaking every time you move and very uncomfortable. Free breakfast was nice!

The staff didn't know too much about tours info. And they should improve the password of room's doors. Breakfast was just OK. But it's a good hostel.

Terrible beds -- the plasticized rubber reminded me of being in a daycare. Hot, uncomfortable and noisy. Blankets were thin and itchy as well. Not very welcoming.

I really liked the staff and the facility itself but there was one huuuuge bug crawling under my bed who disappeared after a few seconds (thank god). Further it is quite hard to carry up the big suitcases all those stairs but i guess you can't change that... Loved the clam chowder that was for free, it's great if you share culture like that! In general I really enjoyed my stay and would recommend the hostel =D.

The people at the front desk are soooo nice and kind. The hostel is OK. The building is a little old and be prepared to walk up the stairs. It has all you can expect from a hostel but you're not allowed to drink alcohol at the hostel so it's comething to have in mind. It is clean and safe. The location is perfect to go everywhere by foot or using public transportation (it's just 2 blocks away) The breakfast is ok but it could be more time to have it (It's only 8-10) . Nice experience in Boston

It's my second time staying at the friend street hostel, and I've never been particularly disappointed. Altogether it cost me about $190 for two nights for two people. My only complaint is the fact that rooming with other guests in bunks can cause some disturbances.

They're open 24 hours and the staff is great. A bit pricey though.

Not a regular atmosphere of a Youth Hostel. Cold. Comfort is excellent. Close to TD Garden and that's it. Would have been more ambiance in an hotel room. A Youth Hostel without beer is like a party without music.

When I saw the set of this hostel,I decided to change the place I would stay. Because it was not clean and it looks like very old.it's very small, just no more than 5 rooms.there are just 3 toilets in the whole building.and it was very humid inside of the house.I would not recommend this place if you have high requirement about comfort and cleaness. There may have 12 beds in one room, and I can see that it would be cold at night.those who choose this hostel, good luck. the stuff are friendly.

Owner Comment (Show)
Cleaning is very high on our list of priorities, Every staff member is responsible for cleaning during every shift. We also have full time house keeping on our payroll. I dont know how many rooms you you need to be able to sleep, or how many toilets you need at once, but most require one room to sleep in & one toilet to use at a time. You clearly have other issues if you gave us such poor scores when you were not even here long enough to see or experience what we have to offer our guests.

The staff was really amazing and friendly. People staying in the Hostel were very interesting, but it really depends on who checks in. The metal bed frames looked clean and new, the mattresses had protective layer around to prevent bed bugs; however, when taking off my bed sheets I saw a rip covered up with some duct tape... I'm all for the universal use of duct tape, but when it comes to bedding, invest in buying a new bed to prevent any possibility of bed bugs.

Beds are very squeaky (loud) and uncomfortable. With better beds, we'd be able to sleep better and not wake up due to noise coming from someone trying to get up to use the restroom or turn over. In addition, there was a lot of thick white dust on the far side of the room below the floor vents by the window that made me cough a lot. It felt like I had powdery dust in my lungs. Otherwise, the atmosphere was great! :)

Quick and enjoyable stay. Floorboards creaked a bit which got sometimes loud in the night, but a very friendly staff and excellent location/ammenities.

Very nice hostel. Great location and near train station. The hostel is nice but it's the staff that make it such a cool place.
