Most staff was really nice, but there was one employee (6ft, blonde, a bit buff) who was really rude and spoilt the whole experience a bit. Just as I was to check out, he made a comment, basically saying I'm too stupid to check out. As a non-native speaker, I didn't understand his sarcasm straight away. A friend asked me afterwards why I didn't say anything. I'm still annoyed that I didn't react faster and rebuked that guy ...

What put me off was one of the receptionists was very rude, a younger blonde dude working the morning/afternoon shifts i think. Also the showers were freeing cold as in old as ice...what is that about??! On a more pleasant note, the common room was nice, and the other staff that i met were very friendly, some older guy i met during the night shift and an older jamaican lady. Location was fab, right next to north station. So if hot showers are not a priority for you, then yes come here.

We arrived early morning. In my two years of traveling I have never been greeted so rudely on arrival as we were at friend street hostel. Not even a hello! We were simply told we could not check in until 3pm and to leave and not return until then! Another girl complained to us about this unfriendly guy on reception as well. We actually cancelled our last two nights due to the attitude and lack of service. No hot water, freezing rooms, pictures don't resemble hostel at all!!

We stayed a night, workers were good and friendly. However, rooms were dirty, especially bed covers were very very dirty just like used by someone :(. Location was one of the best areas in town.

I stayed here one night and I can say it has some character. Old building, wooden stairs, tiled floor... The breakfast is terrible (simple cheap bread, disgusting orange juice, tea/coffee/milk that of course you cannot do wrong). It was in winter, and during the night the room was chilly. Luckily we were provided with a small heater and extra blankets, which helped a lot. Lockers exist, padlock is not provided.

Great location and very friendly and helpful staff. Would be better if more facilities are available in the kitchen.

Good value for money and centrally located. I only stayed one night and I felt icluded in events. Might have been a little warmer in the room but overall the environment was secure and comfortable.

It was nice to have large lockers and 24 h check in. The fact that the wifi was down two of the days I was there was really inconvenient though. Also, the "kitchen" is really just a fridge and microwave in a tiny room adjacent to the common area. Not the most comfortable thing in the world. The place was clean and secure, the showers had hot water and it was a place to keep my stuff for a few days. Friendly cafe staff, well located and dirt cheap.

Firstly, believe everything you read. I have never written a bad review and iv stayed in a lot of hostels over the past two yrs while travelling the world. 1. The beds are the most uncomfortable beds iv ever slept on. Matress is plastic so apart from being paper thin they r very loud too. 2. The kitchen is actually a fridge and microwave. 3. Due to a 'lack of liquor license' you cannot have alcohol on the premises. 4. Rooms were cold on our first night because they forgot to turn the heating on

Good fun hostel but could definately use a stove in the kitchen and being able to drink alcohol would probably make it more social. Staff were always helpful especially Shaun whether while working or showing us around bostons bars after work

Place was ok nothing special no real backpacker environment. Changed the door code mid stay without letting me know which left me waiting outside until another guest was leaving as reception desk was unattended. Also not sure if I was just unlucky but was caught out twice with no tp in the toilets

All the staff was amiable, offered to tell us something about the local tourism, they even invited us to a Thanksgiving dinner, and they provided us with free luggage storage after we checked out. Really enjoyed the lodge there.
