The owners are super-friendly, and she remembered from a year ago that I liked to have a room with a kitchenette. :)

Leah and Danny are amazing. Leah is so warm, positive and encouraging. We had inspiring and uplifting conversations. I loved loved the cozy, homey, and tranquil vibe of the hostel. I would come back just for the hostel, because I didn't like the city so much. Go here!

Not so much a hostel as living in part of someone's private property, it nonetheless was very nice to stay in. Good internet connection and free to use PC were ideal and there's also a small but well equipped kitchen. Not a bad location but a lot better if you have a car (as is the case for all of Houston unfortunately).

This hostel was super cute, in a neighbourhood only 15minutes walk from down town. The private rooms are like little cabins. Shared bathroom was really clean. Owners are very helpful and friendly. Great place for a night or two

If you're looking for a party hostel, not so much. But the self contained rooms are lovely, and the people were amazing, especially with directions and suggestions on where to go.

The hostel was better than expected. Clean linen and clean toilets. The rooms were just right. And Leah and any are very very kind hosts. If I'm in Houston again, no second guessing where I will be staying.

THIS IS A VERY NICE AND COZY HOSTEL, IT IS A PLACE WHERE EVERY CUSTOMER IS TAKEN CARE OF BY THE OWNERS, WHO ARE VERY HELPFUL, KIND AND REALLY KNOW HOW TO TREAT PEOPLE MAKING THEM FEEL LIKE AT HOME AND KNOW HOW TO CONDUCT THE BUSINESS IN A PROFESSIONAL WAY. STAYING IN THIS HOSTEL WAS A PLEASANT EXPERIENCE AND A WAY TO ACQUIRE A GOOD UNDERSTANDING OF WHAT HUMAN RELATIONS ARE..

The hospitality at Friends House was great, the staff were willing to help us when we were having issues and more than happy to tell us about places in the area that were great to see. Everything was in walking distance or a close drive, and downtown was so easy to access with a pretty walk through the park nearby. I also loved that the private room had its own kitchen, and allowed for us to cook some meals at home. Highly recommend it to others!

The hostel itself is decent and a good value for your money. It was much smaller than I expected. It is located on a residential street outside of the city. It is close to the bus so you can easily get into the city, but there isn't much around the hostel. The facilities were clean and neat. They have a full kitchen so if you are there for a long stay you can cook and keep food there. But if you are there for a short stay bring food! breakfast was just bananas. The staff is SO nice though!!

Positives: Great location for business travelers, very "green" community, great house policy of mindfulness and sharing resources (extra food, bath products, maps, advice, etc.), very laid-back atmosphere, well-stocked kitchen and bath, nice "homey" feel to common areas, lovely, considerate hosts. Negatives: Only one bathroom for everyone, bit of an odd smell (litterbox? old laundry?) in the bunk bed room. Overall: Positives far outweigh negatives, great deal & would definitely recommend.

Overall good hostel. Location is not too bad in itself but there isn't many things around. And being closed to downtown is not that important : you won't find anything there neither... Hostel is small but cosy. Staff lives in the small house just 3 meters behind the hostel. Convenient since you feel like home with no staff around but still can reach them if you need.

When you check in very late, you may not get the standard check in overview which includes a very thorough map "class" (so to speak) Please remeber that Houdton is the 4th largest city in the US, BUT it's situated in the South which means we are enormous in terms of Space! : ) That's why it's important to properly check in so you can receive good information about how to move about the city- arts that dense, parts that are not. Leah has a resevoir of info. you just needed to ask. ) You checked in very late, and when staff was availalbe you were already out & about. We didn't see you much unfortunately. And when we were in the office, you did not make yourself available. Danny & Leah are super friendly & apprachable. Ask for tips b/c Houston is a city that if you really want to know where the must see places exist, you need to ask. Also try this website: www.houston.culturemap.com Click "quirky attractions"
