The best welcome that you could hope for accompanied by lovely rooms are why I enjoyed my stay here. A short walk to the east gate ticket office and a kilometre away from the east gate entrance (just take advantage of the buggy service) it is situated in a fairly quiet street. I found the food a little pricey so made use of the street vendors. Would recommend.

The hostel is near to the East Gate of Taj Mahal. Just 10-15 minutes walk. The staffs were friendly. There are actually family members. The food here is good as well. Overall, we had a great time in Agra!

Booked an ensuite but turned out to be shared bathroom. The name of the place is a little bit confusing for rickshawdrivers.

Rather gloomy place with walls severely consumed by fungus. Beware of the room on the ground floor whose window overlooks directly a very noisy road.

If youare looking for a boozy night with little sleep and a creepy host then this is the place to stay but if you would rather feel comfortable and safe it's best to go else where. In the begining our electricity didn't work althought every other rooms did, our promise of hot water didn't come true either. One member of staff who was more involved with the guests was very creepy and extreamly nosey. He looked over our shoulder when on the computer and wanted to know every decision we made.

They were painting upstairs when we arrived and stuck us in one of thnstairs rooms at first. That was mouldy, damp and disgusting with dirty sheets and leaking toilet. We complained and they moved us upstairs to the top floor where the room was bright, colourful and clean with a decent (for India) bathroom. The place is fine and close to the east gate. The restaurant is way overpriced but a complaint about that got us 20% off. Not bad overall, comfy enough. The wifi was fastish

Stayed here for one night. Appreciated them organising a pick-up from the train station in the early hours of the morning, plus they had a spare room when I arrived and let me use it even though check-in wasn't till much later. The room was very damp, not great when it's so cold at night - I don't think I could have stayed in it for more than 1 night. The family who run the place were very friendly, but one of the kids kept trying to sell me stuff in the evening which was a bit annoying.

Location is 1.2km away from Taj Mahal as opposed to 500m as advertised. Don't expect any view of Taj Mahal. Location is along a street which is VERY NOISY. Owner and friends talk very loudly in the common area with no consideration for guests. Private bathroom was not clean and do not have hot shower! Food in the guest house was a little on the high side. Staffs can get a little irritating in wanting to know your plan and recommending their services.

This is a great little place to stay in Agra. The family running this guesthouse are friendly and helpful. The location is good not more than a 15 minute walk to the Taj Mahal. I will stay here again on my way back through Agra.

We have travelled 5 weeks all around India in January 2013 and 'Friends Paying Guest House' was definitelly the worst experience. Although recommended by Lonely Planet, we did not feel very good there. Hot water available, but you only realise once you ask the staff that it needs to be switched on upfront, on your request. Direction signs from main street display wrong distance, obiously to make it 'closer' to the arrivals. And we can continue with another long list of items.

The location was second to none in my opinion. Close enough to walk to Taj Mahal, but far enough from all the noise. My room was as any other typical budget room in India. Nothing special & not too clean. Food in the restaurant was very tasty but a bit over priced. What really made this place special for me were owners, especially a young fella who was helping me out with many things. Nothing was a problem for him and everything was possible. He was incredible and went many extra miles!

We stayed on room no 107. We are very disappointed . There have no geyser for hot water fitted in bathroom. We have to go upstairs for take a shower . Inside walls are moistened & damped. After several repeated reminder to the owner to shift us another room but he was careless. Our room is adjacent to kitchen & dining place. Also the room is closed to busy street. So there have noise, vehicle honking most of the time. We had sleepless night in this hotel. Not recommended.

The rooms are dirty, smelly, cold at night and noisy. The owner stayed up until late watching TV and talking to his friends so loudly that it was impossible to sleep. Then he snored loudly. Horrible experience. Don't go there unless you are stuck for accommodation and have got ear plugs.

for Indian standards (if there is any standard in India) it is ok, if you are not used to such then skip it. I was given a rather poor room with an even worst bathroom. full of moisture in the walls and leakages from the ceiling (they were working on fixing that though) . it's very close to Taj Mahal and that's good, staff is also Indian standard.

- room 101 was very NOISY - more irritating was the hostel staff indifferent attitude to traveler's concern for noise. Despite complaining they kept discussing loudly outside. - far from spotless, room 101 was not well kept. There are spots on the wall, paint was falling from walls. - Toilet flush was almost useless. - their restaurant is pricey for the service it offers - bed and linen were OK.. - has a free wifi which is VERY handy. - good location, taj is walking distance away.
