Great common areas with a kitchen, dining area, lounge, and free computers (but software needs to be updated!). Super friendly staff and luggage storage. Mattresses old and saggy, only three showers and toilets for four floors?! Hope the renovations going on fix that ASAP.

Not a bad hostel and a decent price! I'd have no problem staying again.

Very nice hostel to start you NZ experience. Staff is very nice and the hostel is clean. It's just a nice hostel to spend you Auckland time!

Friendly staff, fine location. Not clean, very bad smell in shower/toilet area all the time, very old facilities, my bed sheets looked like they were not washed and the bed got hairs of someone else in it.. Lockers in room (I think you need to bring a lock yourself, don't remember). I did not like the atmosphere. There's free internet which is nice, bit slow, but still. It's mostly the bad cleanliness which makes me not want to go here ever again.

Bathrooms and beds weren't great, but the kitchen and computers available for use were very good. Also, the staff were fantastic. Knowledgeable and very helpful.

Lack of up keep made for a disappointing stay. Nice staff and nice backpackers but let down by expensive wifi, not very good showers and general lack of maintenance.

The staff was friendly and helpful, the rooms were clean and pleasant, the facilities were ok (maybe renew some of them) and the location is ... center of Auckland ... I loved it to stay there!

My bed was dirty, full of hairs and looked like someone had been sleeping in it when i arrived. There were people that had been staying in the room for 6 months, the whole room was a total mess and had an unpleasant smell. There was only 1 shower working and it was dirty and covered in mould, the ceiling looked like it was caving in. It is a shame because the location is great and the staff were very friendly and helpful. It just seemed like they were under staffed to keep the place clean.

Everything was dirty and old... it's time for upgrades!

Far too loud at night with the street noise. Could not sleep most nights. Showers needs an urgent renovation, they are the worst on the 3rd floor. Staff is nice, and clean a lot, so most day the hostel is clean. Wi-Fi is too expansive, and so are the rooms. You can find what they are offering for cheaper. The best location, bus since all hostels are kind of close by its not really significant.

It's a not bad place to stay. However, the tolilet and shower clearliness could be improved more.

Thought the location, staff and atmosphere were all really good and at $20 a night it was good value to be so close to the city centre. Liked the free sausage sizzle and the night out was a good chance to meet other backpackers. The toilets on level 3 were a bit mouldy and unclean, but I understand that's probably because it's an old building.

Good, clean, central located hostel and nice staff. (Wifi access too expensive and not enough power plugs in the dorms - are the only downs). Kitchen is well-equiped, beds are very comofortable, rooms are big and warm (it was/is winter in New Zealand).

Nice place. Too bad one of the girls in my dorm had a massively inappropriate behavior and didn't seem to mind at all....

The staff were nice and everyone staying there got along with each other, it was a very chilled environment. Free internet and events on most nights which was great if you're travelling solo and wanting to meet people. Also central location.

Good spot, great staff, the nightly events are fun and a great way to meet people. Spacious rooms, bathrooms were constantly being cleaned which was awesome. Good sized kitchen and common room was nice and cozy. Computers were super slow, but it's definitely a bonus that they're there in the first place, so no major complaints. The only bad thing I can say is that the beds (or the one I had anyway) was the worst I've slept on in a year of backpacking! But overall, great hostel.

Busy atmosphere, but generally nice people and a great location!

Good location, bit old and grotty though

Really nice place!!!!
