Average for an "upscale" locals hotel in East Africa. Although it does have air conditioning, DSTV, and sort of hot water, I don't think it warrants the western price tag. Comparing it to other hotels in the west it'd be called a budget hotel for service, amenities, cleanliness, and aesthetics.

great location near the port if that's what you want, the opposite end of the town is more luxurious but also more expensive. The beach area near isn't very safe at night especially if your a lone female and the mercury bar/restaurant near the port is quite expensive.

Hotel is simple but alright! location is so-so, it's near to everything but you have to go through some dark street on the way and it feels a bit unsafe! but the rest is ok!

The hotel is near the fish market, so you smell the fish..very hard! But in the rooms there are air conditions so you don`t smell the fish in the room (most of the time). The hotel is not very clean, old and.. sorry.. disgusting. The owner bleat about my dress (very unashamedly man!), but the rest of the stuff was ok. The breakfast is a real disaster!! The location is good, very central, but you have to take a taxi in the night because the area is not that safe(2 Dollar). So: no recommendation.

Firstly this was not a four star hotel at all. secondly it was situated near a fish auction market and all the fumes of the fish could be smelt from the hotel. when we reached at the hotel we asked to see the rooms before parting with our money we were not allowed to do that. we had to pay before we saw the rooms. when we saw the rooms we did not like them because they were being in prison cells and the location was really bad we asked for our money back but the manager would not give us ou

Hotel was really good, as would be expected for the price. However the location should be a concern to people walking around at night. It is a pretty sketchy walk back to the hotel from the gardens at night. Best to stay in groups if you stay out after dark. Otherwise, clean, wifi and good facilities.
