Nice stay at Funky Fes, very happy I booked - it attracts a lot of likeminded travellers, so a good place to meet others. The terrace is lovely, general decoration of the place is beautiful. Breakfast is basic but nice, coffee or tea, piece of cake, a rotti, a boiled egg and mandarin. Showers are good/hot water can run out though. Staff are efficient - not much interaction with guests though. General atmosphere improvement would be playing music instead of TV. Overall happy and will book again!
The common areas are very cold. They told us we can order food until 9.30..when we wqnt to order at 8.30 they told us it was too late and only the daily meal was available. They don't give us good restaurant directions..only a small and not nice snack place.. the location is in an ugly area and far away from main attraction. Shower inside bedroom...so you hear everything and the steam get in the room. Average breakfast for the marocco standart. Good matresses and blankets.
We had a fine time at Funky Fes. The hosts were quiet, but very kind and friendly. The beds and blankets were some of the best I have ever seen. GREAT BLANKETS! The location was pretty nice, and within walking distance to one of the main gates. Nice rooftop terrace and guest kitchen.
I booked a 4 bed female dorm. They had added in a single bed to the room and when I arrived there was someone sleeping. I found out later it was a staff member taking a nap. Not happy about either of those things!
The room was nice and clean. Staff provided accurate information and were very helpful/ The roof terrace is the best part of the hostel as you can sit out and relax.
The wifi in this hostel is awful. It was so hard to research places to see in Fes and book tickets for our next location in this hostel. We ended up having to pay at an Internet cafe to book our bus tickets because the hostels wifi was nonexistent. Otherwise, the staff was not very friendly and the rooms were mediocre for a hostel- nothing extraordinary. The rooms didn't have enough plugs. Definitely would not recommend.
Great hostel with a good backpacker vibe - we loved the city of Fez and visiting Morocco in general - met some amazing people here and some incredible experiences
The hostel could do with being a little warmer temperature wisewise but other than that I cannot fault it. The staff are friendly and helpful, the atmosphere is great, and the facilities are amazing for price.
Plus: Breakfast is quite nice and staff is helpful. Minus: Heating in the room did not work, although I was assured it worked before booking. The 4 bed female dorm had 5 booked up beds in it and only 3 lockers. The common kitchen is in fact the hostel laundry room with a bar size fridge and a poorly functioning stove top thrown in. Very little cooking equipment or dishes and no room to store food.
Receptionist ruined the stay. Absolutely horrible
Nice hostel. Easy enough to use as a base to discover the rest of fes from. Nice breakfast in the mornings.
Staff was very friendly and very helpful. The tea was AMAZING and overall the amenities and facilities were decent. I would recommend this hostel for anyone traveling through Fes.
Thank you all guys for fantastic time in Fes. When you meet people like you, the only thing you want to do is to come again :-)
The ensuite room was smelling like a public army toilets The staff was unhelpful to give some tips and an advice at the travellers and backpackers when the cLculate the price of your staytment just check it once on your self ...never know
I purposely stayed at this riad, and the nearby Dar Lalla Kenza (DLK), so I could compare the two. Frunky Fes wins hands down. Funky Fes gives much better value by including a good breakfast and the Tourism Tax in their tariff. DLK charges you an extra EUR4-6 per night for these depending on how attentive you are. Funky Fez also offers meals in house, a free computer, and a pillow slip/top sheet (none supplied @ DLK). The staff are welcoming and helpful, and the place has great community spaces.
Had a good time at this hostel and met some great people. Although the staff seem like they just don't want to be there and aren't very helpful.
Really enjoyed the stay and thank you for arranging the transfers. The staff are really friendly and helpful, also enjoyed the walking tour.
Nice and clean hostel. But the best part was the guided medina tour with abdul ali. Such a nice and open minded guy! Thanks..
A great hostel for meeting people (the terrace is great) and you can't really complain about the breakfast as it's free. The bathroom to people ratio isn't so good.
Staff are very friendly including the tour guides. I enjoyed my stay a lot, and food is great. Very Moroccan.
