DON'T book the desert trip with them. The hostel hires different drivers to do the different parts of the trip. Our driver on the last day was hired by the hotel in Merzouga and he didn't want to take us to the agreed places of the tour. I argued and he did 2 out of 3. In the end, he was mad and left us at a bus station in Marrakech, far from the main square. I tried to argue but he yelled at us and we were surrounded by his "friends", so we couldn't do anything. It was awful!

Great hostel, by far the best I stayed in Morocco, probably in the best 25% of the 400+ hostels that I have stayed at over the past 3years. Staff are friendly and do there best to make everyone feel welcome. Having food available at the hostel is a great bonus, and the food was great value and excellent quality served by their always smiling chef (sorry never got her name) Even though I had a flood in my room from a burst pipe the staff rushed around to clean up as soon as possible.
Had a great time at Funky Fes. Never slept so well in a hostel before. Nice chilled out vibe with friendly staff. Good free breakfast.
The staff at Funky Fes are very lovely and helpful. There are also plenty of activities being organised through the hostel. The walking tour is very interesting and insightful; the women's hammam just across the street. And the food on offer is simply delicious.
Me and my friend had an amazing time in Funky Fes, we would recommend this hostel to all our friends and we are looking forward to go back soon. It´s a charming house with an arabic - andalus architecture also in the rooms, what makes you feel home and welcome. The Staff is always very helpful and friendly 24/7 , especially the Receptionist Yahya. Very nice experience! Thank you for everything Funky Fes Team!!! :)

I rated this hostel a little bit over due to its facilities (much better than most hostels in Morocco), staff and breakfast. I had the opportunity to stay at the terrace which is awesome (much better at summer times).
From my point of view, this is a good hostel. They have a very good location in the Medina and a very relaxed atmosphere with a very friendly people. Totally recommended!
LOVE this place. Atmosphere, food, staff, everything was great. The fact that they helped coordinate trips with guides and things was also REALLY helpful! I did a great day trip with some people to middle atlas which would have been way harder to get together if we tried to organize it and find a guide and all that on our own.
I had a wonderful time in Fez. Funk Fez is a great name for a great place to stay. Everyone was friendly and the staff did a lot of our bookings for us. It was very chill and am happy I visited Fez.
Nice and helpfull staff, very cold in the chill out area (wintertime). A lot to do and very good city tour!
Lovely hostal. Nice view over Fes. A bit tricky to find. Not far from busstop.
Good location. Funky was the better of the two hostels I experienced in Fez.
Great Hostel with Great staff. Thank you Janet and Trevor Heath, Casa Grande, Arizona. November 2013
We booked a private room, clearly for 3 nights, was fine, but after two nights we had to move to another bed en breakfast because they had another big group coming. To be cooperative we didn't make a fuss, but it wasn't very inconvenient, the other B&B didn't have any facilities like Funky Fez, and we had to move all our stuff. They should note on there Hostelworld page; there is no alcohol permitted in the hostel or available in the near surrounding.
Nice little place. Lots of great people!
staff are great, really knowledgable and helpful. rooms are spacious and beds comfortable. not too far from medina. definitely the place to stay in Fez.
Such a helpful staff and the fellow travelers I met there were fantastic. Laid back, welcoming atmosphere. I wish I had arrived at the Funky Fez earlier to go on their excursion to the Sahara, as I trust their services to have no hidden price for X.Y and Z.
Great hostel for chilling out and chatting on the terrace under the stars.
Awesome place. Staff are funny and really accommodating. They are always present and will do their best to give you advice. Rooms are clean, spacious and have lockers. Wifi works well and the bathrooms are also good. Kitchen upstairs is excellent too. Sublime view from the terrace and within excellent distances of the Medina and other attractions. If returning to Fes I will definitely be staying here again.
I really liked the contact with the other travelers in this hostel. When I was staying there we had a lot of fun. I think that is mainly because of the other travelers, but also because the hostel has a great roof terrace with a lot of room to hang out and talk. I slept in the room on the roof terrace, my advice: Ask for that one when you`re booking, you step outside your room and you are outside in the sun, I really liked that. The guys in the hostel could by a little bit more friendly.
