Awesome services offered! Definitely the supper and the day trip excursion!
Nice place to stay in - not easy to find, but people do help: Its close to the Medina, where all the touristic sights are. But dont book the Sahratour, to expensive , better to pay for it at Merzouga / Rissani, there is enough accomodation and cameltours avaiblable.
Comfy, secured place and just a short walk to the medina. Very helpful staff to make your stay pleasant. The in-house dinner was tasty and value for money. Greatly recommended.
The Funky Fes is AMAZING! The staff is the friendliest staff you will ever meet at a hostel, ever. They were so helpful and kind, always willing to go the extra mile to make sure we were comfortable, safe, well-fed, and enjoying our stay. They gave us great tips for getting around Fes, cooked awesome food, and even recovered my lost wallet from a town 90 miles away! Its very social place to meet other travelers and have fun all night. I would recommend this hostel to anybody staying in Fes.

Beds were really comfortable staff were very helpful and spoke good English. Walking tour was the sane as the free shopping tour so don't bother paying for the walking tour go on the free shopping tour
The location is a bit far from the blue gate. Staffs are helpful and efficiency. Travel information, bus, train schedule all posted on wall, even provided a free map. Home made breakfast was good.
Staff were very friendly and welcoming, the food available at the hostel was great! Location is perfect, few minutes walk from the old medina. Lockers to store valuables in were handy. Great atmosphere especially on the roof terrace! Highly recommend! Will be back soon!
. we went by taxi to the hostel and the driver told is to pay 20 DH. then the reception guy (Marrocan) from funky fez came outside and talked in arabic to the taxi driver. after the discussion we should pay 50 DH?? The meal wasnt good and too expensive and a shisha for 40 DH?? In other hostels we got it for free! But i have to say that the dark skinned men was very kind. He always did his best for make us pleased.
Highly recommend funky fes. Clean rooms and bathrooms. Helpful staff. Bit of a walk from the medina but not too bad. After heaps of research into tours to the Sahara, the 3day/2night desert tour the hostel offers is definitely worth doing. The guides and the people at the hostel in the desert are awesome and sleeping under the stars in unbeatable.
Great place to stay, very friendly. Free breakfast is handy. They helped us organise a tour through the desert and onto Marrakech- if you're in a group don't hesitate to barter the price of everything! all in all would recommend this hostel :-)
The staff spent the entire time trying to get money from us, refusing to give us change unless we bought something, telling us that we should only book guides through them, etc. The kitchen had one pan, no forks, knives, spoons, plates, bowls, glasses, or pots. The worst thing was that we did book a tour through Funky Fes, and I woke up that morning with bad food poisoning. When I told them I couldn`t go, they said I couldn`t get our €300 even though they hadn`t given money to the guide yet.
Nice hostel, nice stuff. Very friendly and helpfully. Good dinner and very good free breakfast :)
Well located. Spacious interior and lots of areas to hang out. Having a restaurant on the premises is handy if you don't feel like venturing out. Not sure on what the kitchen situation is...I saw one, but not positive it was available for guest use. The only qualm I had about this hostel was the staff. They weren't particularly friendly ...actually quite rude sometimes which was disappointing. Also, tours to the Sahara from here were expensive - save your coin and do one from Marrakech
It was a bit to pricey, especially the things arranged by the hostel. Apart from that i had a great experience. Good atmosphere, clean. Central.
I had a very good time at Funky Fez. The staff are really friendly and helpful and one even went out of his way to go to the train station and purchase a bus ticket for me when I was unable to do so online. Great free breakfast in the morning and good menu on offer for lunch and dinner. The rooms have air con and there was a nice rooftop to hang out, meet others and enjoy the scenery. I would definitely reccommend this hostel!
Really nice atmosphere, it's a small hostel and everyone hangs out on the terrace/downstairs, so easy to meet people. They do medina tours, driving tours, and we did the 3 day/2 night desert trip heading to Marrakech that they organized which was really good. Breakfast included and yummy meals available. Lockers in each room.
Hard to find. clean sheets, room. get taxi price quote to give to your taxi driver coming in from airport/train station. They will try to rip you off. Staff is excellent. Hostel food is great. I defo recommend the Fez old city tour offered by hostel. The old city is VERY hard to navigate at first. This tour will get you your barrings and hits the main sights. You will not regret it. And take a taxi to the hilltop of the city at sunset. Amazing picture opportunity and very peaceful, relaxing.
Impressive building inside, nice and helpful staff and nice meals. But their 'kitchen' is terrible, they basically haven't got one!
Efficiently run hostel, but the staff are a little on the cool/'professional' side for a hostel. Clean rooms, good breakfast, good facilities and felt secure. Good location once you've become familiarised with the area, but difficult to find at first (might be better sign-posted from Place R'Cif). Could be more information on the city of Fes and environs available from the reception + a better map is seriously needed.
