I did not feel very comfortable in this hostel. The bar was loud and crowded with very strange people. The barmen/receptionist got drunk and stoned with his friends who were all hanging around at the hostel. The dorm was spacious and clean (unlike the kitchen, which was disgusting), but the window went onto the bar so it was very loud. Strange people in dorm, too. Security is low, they buzz in everyone without looking. In the mornig staff drank what was left from yesterdays party...

Owner Comment (Hide)
Your comment on having strange people in your dorm. We do not have control over guests personalities or their "strangeness". For all we know they may have found you strange... You are correct in the comment that the window near the pool table is onto the dorm which can be noisy and we apologize for this. I have no druggies working for me. Hope you enjoy the rest of your travel!

Nice hostel, unfortunately theft is a major issue. I'll start off with the good points. Funky Monkeys is one of the nicer hostels that I have stayed in. The dorm room is clean and spacious. The kitchen is a bit small but well equipped. The hostel also has decent wifi by African standards. There are some decent food stores and a car rental company within 30 mins walk so the location is reasonable. There isn't much to do in Nelspruit, most travellers use it as a base to explore other parts

Nice place, but far away from the city enter..and they don't have breakfast (as written on their website) :(
