The staff isn't welcoming. The internet only works in common areas rather than in the double prvt room I occupied. It wasn't very clean. Are any of them? Location was excellent. Can't beat the price. Rules only apply to some guests and are not enforced across the board. Feels safe and I didn't encounter lots of drunk people at this one like I have at the other one.

Hello, Thanks for your comment. We strive to make our hostel the best it can be, so we apologize if the room wasn't very clean. Had you come by the front desk to let us know, we could've acted on it. As for the staff being un-welcoming, I apologize for that! Our staff is normally really awesome. As for the internet, the reason we only have it in the common areas is to maintain a sociable atmosphere. We find it important that our guests hang out together and do not stay and hide out in their room their whole stay! Being a backpackers hostel, we really want people to be social! Rules are enforced as much as possible. I'm not sure if there's a specific situation that you're referring to, but we ensure that everyone is treated fairly and that the rules are followed. If you'd like to discuss this further, please don't hesitate to contact us!

Hostel didn't say which lockers to use, then cut my lock and removed everything during the day. I asked to speak with the manager on the phone but she refused. Rude staff threatened no place to sleep for asking to speak to the manager (i did it politely). Manager please train your staff to behave better (some are nice), and please don't REFUSE TO SPEAK TO GUESTS WITH LEGITIMATE CONCERNS it reflects poorly on you and your hostel. also THERE ARE CLOTHES MOTHS IN THE ROOMS!

I'm sorry your lock was cut, but if you are not using the correct locker we reserve the right to cut it for other guests who will be checking in. Every guest is told at check in to ensure they use the correct bed and locker number. I spoke to the staff member who checked you in, she guarantees that it was told as it is part of our check in spiel. As for your concerns regarding being refused to speak with me. Please note that it was a friday evening and you were welcomed to call me at your earliest convenience on monday, which you are still more than welcome to do. I'd also like to remind you that you accused my staff of stealing $3 from you, and later rememered that you didn't in fact have money. I don't take kindly having my staffed accused of theft. My staff are very well trained, but when spoken to rudely and accused of stealing may react in kind. My apologies if you were offended. As for the clothes moths that you are claiming to have seen - we can guaratee that we do not have them, so I'm not sure what you saw. Our housekeeping goes into the rooms everyday and there has never been sighting of them. Accusing the hostel of things that we do not have reflects poorly on you as well and if you were legitimately concerned, you would have talked to the front desk at some point on your 3 night stay regarding this issue.

A brilliant hostel and the staff are friendly and helpful. The only downside is that the hostel is only about a block from the roughest part of town.

So great- staff were extremely helpful, room was clean and tastefully decorated, and the fridge/food storage and kitchen systems were awesome.

Great location and staff members were exceptionally helpful and friendly- especially the girl with pink hair and tattoos who worked the early night shifts. However, the german girl, whose name i believe was claudia, really let the side down. The way she spoke to guests in the kitchen regarding washing up duties was incredibley rude! While I agree and appreciate the sentiment, there really was no need to be so offensive and dictatorial and she could do well to learn some manners. It put me off!

Owner Comment (Show)
I did talk to Claudia (who lives at the hostel also) about the day in question and she had just spent way too much time cleaning up the kitchen not long before (it was a pigsty) and was frustrated at the lack of respect that some hostellers gave to the space right after it had been cleaned. We really try to be polite but sometimes human nature kicks in. Sorry you were put off.

We stayed here two nights in a private room and it was a good stay overall. The room itself was clean but the drawers in the room were all dirty with crumbs and whatnot. The staff didn't seem very outgoing or talkative, which is a good quality to have when working in a hostel. We didn't use the public kitchen but it looked neat. Noise was non existent at night which was nice. Good to stay at if you're on a budget.
