A journey with the Beetle

May was a marvellous month for the first travellers. A well-prepared plan was not only the key to a successful holiday, but made it memorable in every aspect. The Pomeranian area for instance, which is rich in picturesque views and tourist attractions, has been a destination for many people from all over Poland and Europe. The nearby upside down house in Szymbark and the crooked house in Sopot are countrywide famous for their structure and uniqueness. Last but not least, our Gallery is located in the middle of the Kashubian Region and the TriCity agglomeration, where tourist trails meet and the natural beauty of the Kashubian Switzerland evolves.

TriCity for the active

For the ones that love going to the beach or delighting themselves with the fresh sea breeze the TriCity agglomeration might be the best place to visit in the beginning. Discovering the glamour and beauty of the historic Gdansk, the charm of modern Gdynia or the enchantment of artistic Sopot makes the trip worthwhile.

The three city agglomeration is a fantastic alternative for people, who would like to spend their free time more actively. The Sopot catamaran school, boat trips and water-skiing are only some of the examples of how to enjoy your time in the water. For observers, Gdynia offers scenic flights such as by a hot-air balloon, helicopter or paragliding. If you still feel unsatisfied with the attractions around you, Gdansk offers the biggest go-kart racetrack in Poland.

During the summer Gdańsk, Gdynia and Sopot, are overwhelmed by colourful crowds of tourists that come back every year to moon around the shops, cafés and pubs. Sopot is the culinary capital of the north coast. Seafood tastes nowhere better than here, and the chefs compete in order to create the best food creations possible. “Plaża piratów”, a very famous restaurant, surprises its guests and encourages them to discover different tastes of the sea.

The TriCity agglomeration is not only filled with attractions but also with historic buildings that fascinate tourists from all over the world. The oldest city of the three is Gdansk, featuring historic churches and museums. The medieval Basilica of St. Mary and the rococo organs in the Oliwa cathedral are sacred monuments that are valued all over Europe.

The Kashubian Switzerland – for those who value tranquillity

It is there, where you can smell the freshness of grass, hear the rustle of the trees and the bird singing. The picturesque landscape of the Kashubia is eye-catching and astonishing at the same time. This is the most recommended place where one can rest in the nature. The trails for motorized tourists are well established and lead through hilly landscape that was once home to the Ice age.

The Kashubians value tradition, cultivate habits and... use tobacco. Once famous handcraft and habits of their culture can be seen in some of the museums and heritage parks around the area. The most popular is “Muzeum Kultury Kaszubskiej” ( Museum of Kashubian Culture) in Kartuzy. In Chmielno one can find “Muzeum Ceramiki Kaszubskiej” (Museum of Kashubian Pottery), which belongs to the “Neclów” Family and has been passed on for 5 generations. In Żukowo the Kashubian embroidery is still in use and also very popular among tourists because of its amazing precision. For a remarkable and memorable trip we advice you to visit the narrow railroad in Stegna. It is one of the oldest and most beautiful railway tracks preserved in Poland. For train fans, there is also a retro-train and locomotive museum that can be visited in Kościerzyna. In order to get to know Kashubia as close as possible, we advice you to visit the “Słowiński Park Narodowy” (Słowiński National Park), where you can witness the biggest sand dunes in Poland. If you get tired of walking and strolling around, you can stop by at the “Western City”, where the Polish Wild Wild West is at home. Many attractions such as shooting and Indian dancing can be seen during one of the shows and when you pay close attention, you may even hear some of the 100 bird species singing in the nearby ornithological garden. For nature lovers the botanical garden in Gołub is a good choice. More than 4,000 plant species from all over the world have been collected in the garden. For all tourists, who were amazed by the crooked house in Sopot, there is also an even more attractive attraction in the Kashubian area. The upside down house in Szymbark. It is a unique masterpiece that is really worth a visit. Not far from the house is the longest wood board in the world (according to the Guinness Book World Records). The Kashubian Switzerland offers a wide range of attractions. It is one of a kind not only in Poland but in the world.
