As the name suggests, Gallery Hostel Porto is a beautiful hostel filled with original art and located in an area surrounded by art galleries. It's about 10 minutes' walk from the centre. Hostelworld guests have said they'd definitely recommend this hostel, 'especially if you like art and music'. This hostel features a summer terrace and winter garden, free breakfast, very friendly staff and ensuite dorms. We particularly like their delicious nightly Portuguese dinners, which cost around €10.

The project involved the rehabilitation of an impressive 1906 building seeking to maintain most of the original aspects of a traditional Porto house blended with a modern d'cor infusing neutral and earthy tones with unique textures and furnishings.
Common areas are charming and stylish looking, a fair promise of design, relaxation and cosyness. At Porto Gallery Hostel you will find most welcoming and helpful staff members and a laid-back atmosphere. The friendly staff takes you to free walking Tours around some of Porto's iconic places and shows you the secrets of Porto's art district.
Gallery Hostel goes even beyond by fusing the hostel concept with an own Art Gallery and contributes with its bi-monthly changing art exhibitions, concerts and other cultural and artistic initiatives to the whole community.
Our newest project We Care is our effort to protect the environment through different green initiatives such as recycling, solar water heating and much more.

I think what makes is really special is our bar, where guests can enjoy well-chosen beverages; we prepare daily homemade dinners with different themes such as typical Portuguese dishes, variety of tapas and port wine tasting.

We also have our own art gallery with bimonthly-changing exhibitions of Portuguese artists. We're a part of the local community in our wonderful artistic neighbourhood, which brings you closer to the authentic Portuguese culture. Plus our home cinema is muuuch more comfortable than a movie theatre ;)

One of the most lovely hostels I have ever stayed at! Felt more like a boutique hostel with great rooms, comfy beds, terrific ensuite which was always clean, excellent common ares (library, TV/movie/games room, small bar area, summer terrace and winter garden and nice kitchen), extremely friendly and helpful staff, nightly hostel dinners which is a good chance to meet other guests and have traditional portugeses homecooked food and breakfast is also really good. Would highly recommend!

Besides the fact the hostel locates a bit far from the city center (It took 15 minutes of walking from Sao Bento to the hostel), we were satisfied with everything and will definitely visit in this beautiful hostel again. We stayed at the 3 bed private, and it can be assumed as a hotel room! Indoor bathroom&shower with 7 free towels, air-conditioning and large space was very satisfying. The breakfast is served with three kinds of bread, fruit, cake, cereal, ham&Cheese with home-made omelette!!!
