it's a decent enough place to stay in a city that is getting more and more expensive. could use a facelift, a little cramped, staff were great.

i stayed in this hostel for 4 nights, the hostel staff is really friendly, the hostel is really clean, it's near also to boon keng MRT, maybe the only weakness is only there are only 2 available toilet/bathroom for around 22 peoples, so sometimes u must waiting for use the bathroom, but after all it's recommended hostel! :D

Simple. that is what im looking for anyway. Would like to thanks the owner of the hotel for a great hospitality and smiles. Just for improvement, it would be nice if you have more washrooms and the room can have windows. Other than that, everything is perfect! will definitely go back again! :)

great location, 5min walk from metro station, 15min walk from Little India, with plenty of inexpensive local restaurant nearby. clean & tidy room, probably the best mattress i've ever had in a hostel. Dennis & his wife who run the hostel are very friendly & helpful, offer good recommendations. one small remark, the upper beds in the dorm are kinda high & a little bit hard to get up/down, some extra handle bars would be handy. enjoyable stay overall :)

Enjoyed every minute at gap year hostel. The owners are amazing. MRT boon keng is less than a 5minute walk. Very clean, very helpful, hot showers, amazing wifi, very very good prices for drinks and tours, ... Everything that a hostel needs is there Would stay there every time we go to Singapore! No doubt that this is one of the best hostels in Singapore.

Overall a good hostel with the main positive point on the staffs. They are friendly and very helpful. One thing that could be improve is the numbers of toilets and bathrooms which somehow limited. Location is good and very near to MRT station. Recommended for backpackers for short stay.

Everything about this hostel was GREAT - the staff were so wonderful - friendly and helpful, there was NUTELLA for breakfast, nice relaxed communal area, often surprise treats in the form of food. I'd say the best hostel I've ever stayed in :)

Dennis and Bea make this hostel a friendly, relaxing an welcoming place to stay. The internet is fast as are the available computers, the exchange library is well stocked, the locks are provided for lockers and the evening drinks are often accompanied by snacks of fruit or local cuisine. I had a wonderful time here.

Possibly the nicest hostel owners and staff I have ever met! They really made sure I had a good time, gave excellent advice of things to do in singapore, and were always smiling. Thank you very much for a really enjoyable stay. Much love from your Aussie mate!

The staff are the best part of this Hostel! Friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable about the city (and able to get discount tickets to main attractions to boot). Strongly recommended even the facilities are average.

Gap Year is small but perfectly comfortable and friendly. Real estate is at a premium in Singapore, so I suppose the size comes with the territory. The bathroom setup isn't ideal, but everything is clean. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

I absolutly loved my stay here. Perfect location, right by the train and bus stop, with a huge food court just up the road. The staff were just delightful and so very generous too. They were very helpful and caring when it came to helping out with trips and transfers etc. I do hope to get back to Singapore soon as I felt so welcome and will definitly be staying there again. Thanks:)

Gap Year was a really fantastic hostel. Good location close to train stations as well as cheap eateries. The dorm room was large and the access to private lockers gave piece of mind for your valuables. Fully air conditioned which made all the different in hot humid Singapore. The staff Dennis and Jerlynn were so generous and helpful. Really fantastic hosts. I will be coming back to stay and again and recommending it to every traveller I meet.

For those who have experienced a stay at K's hostels in Japan, this is Singapore's equivalent.

Breakfast was easy, free wifi, the staff were hella friendly, and the free drink in the evening is a great way to meet other like-minded travelers at the hostel. The locations is great too, not too far from a MRT station. Great little spot.
