Lovely owners who go out of their way to help, giving their own local insight into Singapore. The people really make this place special - especially if you are looking for tips on Singapore's amazing array of food! Nice clean functional rooms with fantastic air conditioning and good lockers. Location seems strange at first but offers easy access to little India, delicious cheap food an the MTR is a one minute walk away which is perfect. Taxi to airport was quick and reasonably cheap too!

The hostel is nice and the staff excellent. It is a bit out of the way (around 15 min walk from Lavender MRT) and the rooms are tiny. Showers are combined with the toilet, everything else is good.

Gap Year hostel is, by far, the best hostel I've ever stayed at. The staff, consisting of a husband and wife duo, are extremely warm and welcoming. They are travelers themselves and are seeking out fellow travelers to befriend. They treated me like family, even going to lengths such as driving me out for food, or driving me to the train station to the airport because it was raining. I could not recommend this hostel more, it was an amazing experience to stay here and meet such awesome people!

The owners recently opened this hostel. The staff is very helpful; they are all from Singapore and are familiar with food and things to do. I ended up extending my trip because they were so helpful suggesting things to do. I stayed in the large dorm which had individual lights and power. Very spacious and no problems with the heat. This was one of the better hostel experiences I've had in the past few months in Asia and it is in large part due to the very good staff.

I had a short stay there to spend Christmas with my GF, It turned out to be a great decision, Dennis and his kind staff are overwhelmingly kindhearted. Overall, Gap year is very clean and comfort place with a reasonable price and your can make friends from many countries. A good place U shouldn’t miss out. –From China.

Everything was really good, clean and I felt really save due to the usage of keycards. Want made my stay special were the owners, both were super friendly and you could talk to them about everything, since they have been backpackers like me.

Without doubt one of the best hostels we've stayed at! They guys who run this hostel, Jerlynn and Dennis, were probably the friendliest and most helpful hosts I've encountered on my travels. They made our trip to Singapore a great experience and even took us out for a meal at an incredible Korean restaurant - be sure to get the name and location of it from them! The dorm rooms are clean and spacious and each bed has it's own reading light, cupboard and locker. We'll be staying here again

Through my 14+ years of backpacking, this is probably the most welcoming and caring staff I have had. They went above and beyond what I usually expect from hostel stays. They are personable and give really good recommendations on anything and everything you ask for. Security, location, facilities, cleanliness, etc. are all excellent; definitely recommend it and will stay here again anytime in Singapore. Thank you for the excellent stay!

I was a solo traveller and the owners at GY made me feel completely at home and at ease. Not only are they friendly and approachable, they are fantastic hosts who never fail to help me whenever I have queries. Furthermore, what was so memorable about the stay was the hostel's impeccable cleanliness and the owners' love for food - they even had food tasting for local cuisines like chilli crab, frogs' legs etc. I am really impressed with this cosy little place and I'd be sure to return w/ friends.

Very friendly staff, offering a very hospitable service. The hostel manager has a great knowledge of the area and the best attractions to see. My short stay in Singapore was enhanced to it's fullest because of the recommendations of staff. The rooms were neat, tidy and clean. The fridge at reception is stocked with local been and good German beer, very important. computers free to use, apple and pc, also wifi. A+++++++ Two thumbs up.

Nice and close to an MRT station, with extremely friendly and helpful staff. The single private is on the tiny side, with no windows, but that appears to be normal for Singapore. Everything is kept nice and clean,. The common room is relatively small, but should be quite sociable assuming the right guests are around - it was a little quiet when I stayed there. Having keycards means that the place feels really secure.
