The best hostel I have stayed at. Right in the center of town on a nice street and the hostel itself is gorgeous. Really a pretty hostel. The downstairs area is great for meeting friendly people in the lounge area, clean kitchen, or back porch. Also the staff here is great and always extremely helpful and eager to help you always in a friendly manner. I would highly recommend Garden House to anyone coming to Porto.

I had a splendid time at the Garden House. I was sick the first day I got there but the staff was friendly and accommodating. It has a good atmosphere for if you are traveling by yourself and want to meet people to explore the city with. Very clean and good breakfast.

One of the best hostels in the world we ever stayed in over the last 10 years..! Just a tip: Don't let in the elderly people (50 and 60+). When we stayed in GH, the elderly people didn't mix with the hostelculture, habbits and standards. Sorry, they just don't get it! Hostels are supposed to be for young people who want to discover the world on a low budget; not for old people who need a cheap room..!!

Hi, I was actually very disappointed in my stay. I liked the overall character and feel of the hostel, but I woke up throughout the night with ants crawling on my face. When i woke up in the morning about fifteen ants were crawling around my pillow and when I told this to the front desk, they didn't seem very concerned with how i felt.

My friends and I (a total of 5 people) had a wonderful weekend stay at this hostel. It felt cosy and homey, though everything about the hostel is modern and new. Kitchen facilities are great and well equipped if you wish to cook in; bedrooms are comfortable (though could use a mirror); staff is very helpful and welcoming. All in all, I would definitely recommend this hostel to any of my friends.

The staff was very friendly & helpful. Everything was clean. Our room (private double) was big and well equipped. The location is awesome. Breakfast was a pretty basic but OK. The only criticism is that the hostel is a little clairaudient. Even when the door of the room was closed we could hear people in the hall and the bell ringing. Also a little annoying (but not the hostels fault) are the seagulls that are all over Porto.

Garden was fantastic, I would definetilly go there again. Rui, the host, is a good guy to talk about whatever, the live music night was great, all facilities work just fine, it is located in the heart of Porto and just about 50 meters to the metro, if you have to go far. And people from the walking tour (Pancho Tour) was fantastic as well, Dario, Tiago, Iris... Portuguese hostels are the best.
