Lovely hostel with lovely courtyard garden- nice place to relax/pool table etc. Very friendly and helpful staff. Cleaners/cooks always smiley, polite and friendly. Two v. helpful reception guys (? George) provided lots of info and help. And always around when needed.English was perfect! Very nice indeed. The stay wouldn't have been the same without these two. Rooms quite cold and noisy and bathrooms could do with updating. But it's in an old and lovely town after all! Excellent value for money!
Nice place to relax and come back to after a day of exploring/hiking/etc. The café was quite cozy, overall the staff was helpful in booking buses/trains, giving advice, and finding the hostel in the first place (which was a bit of a trick - I couldn't figure it out with just the directions provided by the hostel over e-mail). The showers could have been a bit cleaner and more practical, though.
Not a great stay at this hostel, only 1 staff member was friendly and helpful and everything was really damp including the beds. We booked a tour for 10am and the staff were rushing us out the door at 9.30, everything seemed to be our fault... Was cheap though so you get what you pay for.
very friendly guy at reception. rest of staff is soso.
Garden Inn is tucked away from the central Old Town Lijiang, which was nice, as you're not caught in hustle and bustle. It's very quiet here and beds are comfy but I did find myself getting a little bored sometimes! When I arrived I didn't know they arrange transport to Tiger Leaping Gorge and back - which is great, so they should advertise this more! Staff quiet but when spoken to friendly, great Irish pub down the road called Stone The Crows - they do BBQ's!!
Perfectly located in the old town, but away from the main bustle area. Clean spacious rooms, a tad noisy till ~23:00 but nights are really quiet.
Lovely hostel, away from the old town buzz even though still inside the old town. Friendly staff. I felt that their mattresses were really hard. Maybe this was just the dorm. Only stayed for one night so couldn't bother to change rooms. Lovely backyard.
My friend and I stayed here. Was absolutely fantastic. Recommend to everyone.
Tough place to find, hidden away deep in the labyrinthine streets of the old town. Male staff member is exceptionally friendly, helpful and efficient. Small place with ok atmosphere, no real food on offer but not at all far from tons of restaurants. Very handy tiger leaping gorge shuttle early each morning.
Altogether too typical of Chinese desk staff, some of the girls seem rude and awfully put out that you must pay for a beer or your breakfast or something with a 100 kwai note. Sorry for living! Mike on the other hand, a server and guide, has a great attitude and makes your stay much fun.
Fantastic staff - super helpful when planing our Tiger Leaping Gorge trip
The food was good, especially breakfast. The staff was excellent and very helpful. The internet was sporadic, which was a problem at times. All-in-all, a really good experience! Thank you!
