Fast internet, which was a great change. 15-20 min to city centre, staff were helpful.

Gaudy's was close to a grocery store, the bus lines, the art center, a bank, and had great tours available. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The rooms were small, but adequate. There was a lot of fresh air that circulated throughout the building. It was located in the San Jose city, so there was a lot of traffic noise. The lounge for guests was large and comfortable. We would recommend this hostel.

Second stay here, really good again! I love the location, safe area full of shops and restaurants, near a supermarket. 2 blocks from Paseo Colon - a bus downtown costs 165 colones, a taxi 2000 colones. Again, people were great, very friendly and relaxed atmosphere.

This was a really good find. A strong location in the safe Sabana neighbourhood, you are literally minutes away from several fast food outlets and a large supermarket. The park is also steps away. The hostel itself is friendly, with helpful staff and a really nice vibe. We had only 2 issues - there was often a queue for the bathrooms and in some rooms the traffic noise at night is loud. Otherwise an excellent place to stay in San Jose, would definitely return.

Very clean, liked all the patios and outdoor areas. However, airport transfer seems to not exist as I and several other guests had varying degrees of problems with our airport pickups.

This place is close to the airport and offers a good setting for hanging out with other travellers. It's not in the best area, but the staff will help you steer clear of rougher streets. Their website says that breakfast is free, and the staff I asked about breakfast said there was breakfast, but I never say any food laid out, or signs on cabinets, or anything that suggested a free meal no matter what time I got up. If you're only passing through San Jose, this is still a good landing pad.

Great hostel in a great location in San Jose (close to downtown, yet in a quite enough street. The staff was quite helpful with different questions we had and the owners are great people.

The best place to spend a night in San Jose, not the closest you could be to the airport but it's about a $30 dollar cab away and puts you a few blocks from the main Coca Cola bus station. The staff is amazing, there's a ton of computers to use for free, very clean, great communal kitchen/living area complete with TV and wide selection of movies. Overall pretty much everything you want in hostel, too bad its in San Jose and not somewhere on the coast where you'd want to spend more time!

There is no bar here so its very mellow. A quiet place if you just need to sleep.

Some of the rooms were in disrepair, a fresh coat of paint and some good carpentry work would set things right, also garbage cans and recycle containers should be emptied more often.

The hostel’s location is perfect if you are going to or from the airport. Especially with a car. You can avoid most of the traffic jams and there is free and secured parking space. The staff is friendly and helpful although not all of them speak good english. We were there in the rainy season but the interior was cosy and spacious. Recommend it.

I stayed at Gaudy's on three separate occasions while visiting Costa Rica. It became a sort of home away from home. Friendly staff, safe feel. On my trip I stayed in luxury hotels, budget hotels and hostels, and Gaudy's was the most welcoming and enjoyable of them all.

I love this place, been Here three times. Its' not quite when when other backpackers arrive, they sleep late. So if you looking for a quite night sleep! Good Luck. Free internet and wifi with two computers, Free Breakfats they make for you and unlimited coffee and Tea's.. Love it. They have a pool available but it needs replacements on the sticks. 10 to 15 minutes to shopping areas you can walk to it. Beautiful environment to hang around in the hostel. People here are friendly. Truly Recommend.
