Everything was pretty good, a little noisy being across from the park, but a central location. I would suggest two things; fans in the rooms and notes in the kitchen on the refrigerator telling people NOT eat other people's food.

Always Gaudy's. We love this place. Plenty of room, clean, and affordable.

This was a great place too unwind and prepare for the next destination. There was not much to do at this location, unless you like to eat, shop and drink. The staff was friendly and the coffee, fruit and pancakes for breakfast were great.

I booked 3 double rooms at Gaudy's a month before our visit. When we arrived, the girl told us we were getting two triple rooms and was very confused when I tried to explain that I had booked three separate rooms. We were still charged the same amount that we would have for 3 ensuite rooms because the girl didn't not understand. It ended up being fine, but I couldn't help feeling a little ripped off. Luckily, the young guy working the desk the next day was very helpful in booking a shuttle.

We had private room/bath. Right away, we noticed the comforter was wet in spots and there appeared to be a small pile of sand on it. When we lifted the sheets to make sure it was clean and it was disgusting. There were hairs, stains and sand all over the mattress and sheets. We asked to change rooms, said they were booked then let 4 people come in b4 us. Changed sheets but not pillowcases and flipped the gross mattress. We promptly left after my bf argued with owner for ten minutes. :-/

We stayed here on two separate occassions going through San Jose. The facility itself was great- two working computers, a janky pool table (it gave it character!), a big TV with a few comfy couches, a couple nice enough bathrooms, and a great kitchen. The only downfall was the staff. They continuously gave us horrible advice and directions. We were misguided both times we stayed there when we asked pretty simple enough questions. We came through San Jose once more and didn't stay there.

The hostel is close to the Tica bus station and fast food joints, making it an easy place for a stop over in San Jose. The rooms were fine, nothing special. But, the morning staff were amazingly loud. It was as if they had no idea the hostel was meant for people to sleep. They started talking very loud about 615 am, and never stopped. Kind of left a bad taste in my mouth.

We stayed at Gaudy's for the location and parking. When we arrived the reception was less than helpful. He would not move one of the cars in the parking to make room for ours when there was room for it. We ended up paying 32.00 to park in a public parking 3 blocks away, which effectively doubled our price for staying the night. The beds were very uncomfortable, we could feel the metal bars thru the mattress. We won't be staying there again, and I won't recommend it to any of my friends.
