WE WERE NOT GIVEN OUR FREE PICK UP! Bit of a scam. Staff 50/50 with some rude and unfriendly. Room tiny and bathroom not cleaned for entire 4 days we were there (most likely still overflowing with used toilet paper). Kitchen not clean and we had to clean up after STAFF to use the pots/pans while and they just watched us clean up aftet them without a care in the world. Breakfast does not include cereals or cakes as stated in description. Good location.

Staff here not the most helpful. Also the rooms are way to tight with bunks on top of one another. Otherwise loved the bar on the beach barstaff lovely very friendly. Location wise what can be bad about having breckfast on the beach in the morning.

Really lovely hostel on a great location. The staff are really friendly and will always chat to you, they remember your name each time! You get to have breakfast on the beach every morning and it has a great atmosphere! The evening meals are also fantastic at an affordable price. Would definitely recommend this place!

Staff could be less abrupt if not more friendly. Would be good if they had info on local buses etc and on sights in the area. Cleanliness was not good. I had to ask them to empty the bin in the toilet which was already overflowing and not emptied for three days.

The dorms are kept very clean, I loved having dinner on the sea front - so fresh w/ beautiful views. Breakfast is almost the best part - looked forward to it each night! The staff I consider my friends, even after a few days. Genuine people! Cannot recommend enough. Jealous of you fellow travellers yet to see Paraty and these hostels!

Cramped and dirty dorms and bad bad pluming. Its an old building and you can tell. I went to check out and check in at Misty there sister hotel which is much nicer but there was a guy there saying he had bed bugs.

Very low budget hostel. On my first they had overbooked our room, so that one guest had to sleep on the floor. Located nicely on the beach (the water is not so nice though, but the view is fine). It\'s possible to go on trips that you can book in the hostel. Good food on the beach in the evening arranged by the hostel. The free taxi from the bus station is only fre if you stay several days.

Gekos was the worst hostel we stayed at in South America. We booked a 4 bed room. It was so tiny and terribly hot and the fans did not work. We were all in baths of perspiration. The staff did nothing to alieviate the problem. Considering we paid about $80 per bed ie $320 per room per night, it was appauling service. We moved out to a lovely Posada around the corner

Lots of rooms crammed into a small place with very few toilet facilities (1 bathroom between 14). The bathroom was filthy at all times and had a drainage problem. The staff however were brilliant, as was the location on the beach where breakfast is served. Really good fun staying here but don't expect a lot from the dorms...like most Brazilian hostels to be honest I've stayed at to be honest.

When we got there the bathroom was gross, but that was cleaned the next day. The kitchen wasn't the cleanest either. The staff were mostly nice, but there was one or two who looked really annoyed if you asked for anything, especially at the bar.

The quality of the mattress was very poor and our back was hurting the hole trip. Even though it is in Brazil, most of the people from the STAFF could not speak Portuguese and we had to share the kitchen with another hostel and there were not enough kitchen utensils for more then two people. The location was great though and each room had their own bathroom . The city during the summer is REALLY hot and full of mosquitoes, if you can look for a hostel that has air condition...

Pluses: Great location with lovely breakfast each morning right on the beach, only a short walk to the historic town. Nice outside area with view of the beach, hostel organises dinner each night for around 16 - 20 real. Downsides: I found the hostel quite dirty. No big lockers for backpacks, the bigger dorms have insufficient fans and bathrooms for that many people. Have to pay for using computers and the wireless us terrible!

Bathrooms are disgusting. Dorm room is full of Mosquitos. Staff were amazing though, breakfast was incredible. Beds are very old and pillows aren't usable. Location ok, but the beach opposite the hostel is not clean (towns pipes enter into the water so you can't swim in it). After all of that, good for a night or two, but where else can you stay? The misti next door is so bad, and Che legarto is meant to be damp and mouldy. Thank god for their great staff (well only the American girl...)

Good Location on the beach, although it's not the best beach in Paraty. Nice beach bar and only a few minutes walk from the centre of town. MARY RULES!!
