1st night: door to one room was broken. Had obviously been broken for some time and repair was botched. 6 students aged 14 in room that didn't lock. Staff unhelpful, no concern shown, complete lack of regard for safety and welfare of students, they wanted them to stay in this rm. At midnight alternative accommodation finally found. Youths drinking alcohol on stairwells at night. V noisy. Dreadful row in room beside me late one night. Fire alarm in room without battery.

This was a great place. Meters away from the tram and train station, very secure, great lockers, very clean. The staff was very helpful, the bar downstairs was fun! The laundry service was great and secure. Great wi fi system. If you are travelling alone, you will get to meet many people in the common areas. The Free Tour guys come to the hostel everyday to pick up people - that's cool. The price was excellent.

The staff was usually very rude to me and my friends. They were getting angry easily. When you needed help, they were making strange jokes at you. But they were helpful when you asked how to get somewhere. Bathroom for closed for cleaning just before check out time! Internet is just in some places and is very weak.

Huge hostel with lots of facilities - you'll find everything you need. I had a private room with bathroom ensuite which was very clean, it was like a hotel room. More than you can expect for the price! Unfortunately it was a bit noisy at night, but it was ok for me. Prices for dinner are really too high though. Location is quite good, it's not central but the train and tram station is just in front of the hostel. All in all I had a pleasant stay and can recommend the hostel.

nice and clean rooms (especially the girls dorm with 2 big mirrors for doing make up :-) ), good location (next to the s-bahn/Ringbahn stop Landsberger Allee, so you can go to different places quite easily), good breakfast (rolls, joghurt, cereals, coffee, tea, ham, cheese, jam,...). in the evening it sometimes gets really noisy in the common rooms downstairs though, due to the huge amount of beds the hostel has, but in the rooms and everywhere else it's quiet, so it's ok :-) free wifi is good!

I was very disappointed with Generator when I stayed there this month. I stayed there two years ago and had a perfectly fine time, but this time the staff was incredibly rude and unhelpful. I emailed them a month ago and asked if my two friends and I (who all booked the same kind of room) could stay together. They said no problem, but when we arrived we were all on different floors. The staff was dismissive with us and I will not be returning.

The sheets on my assigned bed were dirty when I arrived. The reception told me to take a different bed. However, at 11:30 pm, the guest assigned to the bed I took arrived and asked me to move. I talked to the reception and they sent housekeeping to the room at midnight to change my sheets. I was happy they did that, but I would have preferred to have had clean sheets from the start. Your brochure advertises free breakfast, but I had to pay 4,50 euro extra. What you advertise should be correct.

Generator Berlin is a good Hostel. We had a twin bedroom with a small bathroom. We had everything we needed in the hostel: a warm clean bed, hot shower and breakfast. The hostel is a 2min walk from the Sbahn and from there it is a hop and a skip to anywhere in Berlin! Except for the big crowds of students staying there and not cleaning off theif breakfast trays I have no negative comments of our stay! The free wifi was a bit wonkey and would only work downstairs.

We stayed in a double room with bathroom, so we didn't get the 'hostel' experience - and we were looking for it. So the room for us was like staying at a hotel, very clean and we could sleep well. It's cheap for what you get. It's not right in the city centre but the S train is pretty close and it takes you everywhere in short time. I would stay here again.

The location is not the best, still is a nice hostel. You can get in and out through public transport really close to the hostel.

I stayed in a double room. good points: mattress comfortable, clean bathroom, big bar, look like a hotel, next to a big train station. bad points: not centrally located, shower

Generator hostels are great. Great to meet new people, always clean and the staff are so friendly. Beds are comfy and the location is great. I will always recommend staying at the Generator, I just wish they were a little cheaper. But happy to pay as they are a great chain of hostels. Bar onsite and great food as well. Love it!

It was stated free breakfast but when we came in the staff said 4.50 for it.the corridor is unclean, bad bathroom.I and friends stay in 3rd floor and there are only 4 bath cubicals.1 of it was under repair so just 3 can be used.. and the people that waiting for it was like 7 or 8 people.the bad thing was the 3 bath cubicals linked to 1 drainage only at the centre.while I waiting for my bath turn I saw pee in yellow color.btw I paid 40 pound per person that night! quite disappointed with the stay
