I asked for a mix dorm and was placed in a female dorm. Also no Wifi in the room only down in the bar. Right in the heart of the Mitte District.
The Generator Hostel is awesome, stayed at the London one as well & loved it. There is no kitchen but there is bar food you can buy that's cheap so that is no worries. There is a bar and massive common area expect it is full of chairs & tables, no real lounge around area - like couches or anything. Just some feedback, nothing bad at all. Laundry facilities weren't the best but I think they are getting fixed. Location not exactly central, but easy enough to get everywhere via metro/tram.
2 s bahn trains away from central Berlin, but only takes around 15 minutes. The staff were friendly and quick on check in. Booked a twin bed shared bathroom and on arrival our room had an ensuite at no extra cost. Facilities downstairs are good with a large common room and bar area with sofas and chairs and pool table. Food outlets and restaurants around the hotel. ... There was school kids running round and being loud at times though !
Stayed in a private room for one which was perfectly clean and comfortable. Girl at front desk was exceptionally friendly, only downfall was that absolutely no additional information was provided upon check-in. There was no maps about the local area or information about things going on within the hostel, such as walking tours or pub crawls. Nothing was said about how the canteen worked, how the payment for breakfast worked or how the wi-fi worked and this was very frustrating and impersonal.
Central and clean. Good if all your planning on doing is sleeping. Metro is round the corner, or get the tram up towards Alexanderplatz. Cafes on route sell coffee/pastries, so get breakfast here rather than the hostel (which is €5.50 !) Only use the laundry facilities if your staying for a few nights, as can take a while to find a free washer/dryer (€6). Bar is loud with techno music, but good bar staff. Would recommend for groups, but don't stay if your looking to meet other people traveling.
Everything was really good, I would just make the internet avaiable in the rooms.
Stayed for 1 night. Clean room, clean sheets, bathroom inside the room. We just wanted to sleep, so we didn't pay much attention to the facilities.
