It was a great experience to stay in the Generator! Close to the major attractions.

was really disappointed. overpriced thought location would be worth it but it's still 7.50E to get to city one way. staff were rude and unorganised, tried paying for breakfast with a 50 note for the two of us and just said 'dont have change' and threw it back with no solution/apology. all the power outlets didn't work that wasn't on the bed- my bed light didn't work. the showers were seethrough and sensor light turned off so I showered in the dark. bar was nice but hard to socialise with others.
Very nice hostel! Good location and facilities! I had some bad roommates very drunk and rude at 3 a.m. but the Staff was absolutely perfect dealing with that annoying (but quite normal in hostels) situation. Thank you guys! The only problem is that isn't a kitchen even a fridge to store a sandwich etc.
Bit of a walk from Venetia SMN station but situated over looking the water. Breakfast for EUR 4 was good value for money and each bed had a light/plug & wifi was strong (essentials for interrailers). Showers and bathrooms were also clean. Maybe slightly expensive for those looking to travel on a budget. Overall good - would happily recommend and stay there again.

Pretty awesome hostel. Only stayed for one night. The view from the bedroom was gorgeous and my bed was right by the window which made it even better. The breakfast was not worth the extra cost though and they don't have kitchen facilities. It was not on the main island so you must take a waterbus to accessory of Venice but otherwise location is good.

To be fair there is not much affordable choice in Venice so this is about as good as you get. My first night on floor 3 was fine, but the 2nd night on floor 1 was poor- one bathroom between dozens of females, cold showers, my locker was broken and you can hear the disco below as if you are in it- not good if you want to sleep before about 1am.
My friends booked as a group of 8, I booked by myself and sent an email to generator to attach my booking to theirs. Our group then delayed our visit by one day. Despite giving the proper notice required, generator tried to charge us for this night. I rang them, gave them my name and eventually they agreed to not charge us. They delayed the group of 8 but not my attached booking. They charged me for the night and resold my bed. They then had no beds to sell me so sent me away at 2am. Terrible.
Good location, Good social environment downstairs, bar and breakfast is a little spendy (the restaurant next door has cheaper food and drinks). Black mold in the shower is probably the only downside to this place, as well as some of the bartenders and receptionists have a poor attitude. Overall, good experience.
Really good hostel. Far away from the touristy places but just a few min boat ride gets you to the mainland. The second floor bathroom smells bad...no idea why. Also the glass showers made it kinda awkward to shower. But other than that, I loved the staff, and a definite great experience!
Very good hostel. modern interior clean and we'll kept. The atmosphere was amazing with a party all night on Friday and excellent music and drinks prices. It wast too bad to get to bit it is on the island below venice itself so you had to get a taxi boat which are all night and fequent. just make sure to get a 72 hr pass on the taxi boats or somthing and make the most of it because 7.50 euro per trip is alot when 28 for 3 days isn't so bad.
There is a club downstairs that plays music until 02:00 in the night so loud that our beds vibrated! When we complained the staff just laughed and told us we were to young to complain (we had been travelling for 14 hours!). The location is terrible, you have to pay 15 euros for a roundtrip to the main island. In my bed I found used contact lenses, that was disgusting. The breakfast was not worth 4 euros. This is the absolutely worst hostel I have ever stayed at, they were very hostile and rude.
Good hostel, but too expensive for what it is. In fact it's more an hotel than an hostel. Staff is ok, but you even have to pay to get a map of the city..
As the hostel is based on the island of Guidecca, you have to get a boat to the main island with san marco and dorsoduro but that didn't bother us. Stayed in a shared dorm and you have to bring your own lock for your bunker. Advise to stay on level 2 due to loud noise from bar area.
The hostel was nice, but the bar is really loud if you get a room on the first floor and that makes sleeping really hard.
Awesome facilities, great location, very cool vibe to the common area and a great kitchen/ bar area. Great activities in the common area at night for guests. No problems with wifi in either of my rooms. Staff were able to move me to a dorm with less people in it no problem with no charge. Only negative, the housekeeper threw out my belongings that I had left on the bed, stripped the bed and put new linens on. Not sure if she thought I checked out but management was quick to replace items.
The staff was super friendly and helpful. There were lots of opportunities to meet people - even sitting outside to watch a great sunset over Venice. It is only a quick waterbus trip to Piazza San Marco. It was hot when I went, but the air conditioning in the 16-person dorm I was way to cold - I'm now recovering from a cold I developed. The bathroom garbages could be changed a bit more frequently (but maybe I just happened to go at a bad time!). Overall though, I enjoyed my stay.
Great, central locale, fun atmosphere, clean facilities.
So so so great for young travellers, Kareoke on a Monday night is absolutely hilarious & so much fun! Such a cool and trendy place to stay! Just like being in a Modern Hotel!
Hostel was amazing! We met so many fantastic people! The bar and food are so cheap! The rooms have air con and each have a light and PowerPoint! Great things on each night! The bar stays open till 2! Great hostel would definjtely recommend it! Really enjoyed our stay!
Location is the best part of everything. Away from crowds in Venice but only 5 min to San Marco by ferry. You can wash clothes for 3,5 and dry it for extra 3.5 euro. They re trying to create atmosphere but it is really hard to sleep while listening drunk people singing karaoke down. Something between hostel and hotel but everything is classy inside. I booked 7-bed mixed dorm but was placed in 3-bed mixed dorm. Room had high ceeling, no AC but it wasn't hot at all inside. Beds are big and comf
