There are not many restaurants on the small island but everything else was perfect. I would definitely stay here again
Really great hostel for money spent. Very clean, no shortage of services available. 5 min water bus ride to the main island. Met some really cool people down in the bar area. Very good atmosphere. Would stay again if ever in Venice.
i just wanted to say that it was the best hostel i have ever stayed in! Staff were so nice and helpful and also great to chat and have laugh with. i love the look of it and whole atmosphere was great and relaxed. after busy day being out and doing stuff it was just so nice to come back to the hostel and just hang around. i really REALLY like this place and people that work there! love Matylda :)
The location might not be the best, you need to take a boat to get there from all the touristic center and it cost like 7euro each trip, the staff was a little bit uncaring too
The hostel is absolutely perfect! Everything is clean and brand new. The staff is very nice and friendly. The fact that the hostel is.located in a different Island than the touristical sites is not a problem for the vaporetto system works pretty well.
This place is actually just a swanky hotel masquerading as a hostel. Seriously, it's super nice. Lots of cool people staying there when I was there. It's off the main island, so it does cost like 20 euros for a daily boat pass or 14 euros round trip each time you need to leave or get to the main island. The giudecca is super peaceful though and a great place to chill. Nothing really there but a couple bars and the hostel, but it was cool to explore around the residential areas of venice.
Great place. Most comfortable beds I've ever had at a hostel, thick mattresses& bedding, lights and power points built into the beds. Clean bathrooms/separate toilets. Amazing view from our window across the water. Cheap drinks and happy hour at the bar. Staff were really helpful when looking for somewhere nice to eat. Wifi didn't work in our room, no kitchen and not on the mainland, but it's only a short boat-bus ride. About 20€ for a two day bus pass for all buses so it was ok.
Great hostel in a city not designed for them at all. Bit tricky to get to but once you figure it out very simple to get around Venice. Very friendly and nice staff. Big shout out to the man behind the bar, smashing out cocktails all night by himself and still finding time to have conversations with everybody! Lovely old building and comfy beds
Great place to be at. On one of the side islands that was easy to get to. Only complaint is that this was the only hostel that wanted to charge me for a map and they acted appalled when I asked if there was a free one.
I loved this hostel! I'd stayed in the Generator Hamburg, so I knew that this would be a good hostel, but this exceeded my expectations! The location was okay, not on the main island, but it was only one or two stops from the main center on the water bus. I loved the atmosphere, the bar/lounge area always had people hanging around to chat with. Keycards made the rooms feel very secure.
GREAT hostel, but you have to add the boat cost (prices below) on the hostel price which can be a deal breaker if you're traveling on a low budget. Boat prices: 7 euros one way 20 euros 24hrs ticket 30 euros 48hrs ticket ....
Absolutely amazing. I almost just slept the entire time I was in Venice it was so nice :p Free breakfast was great as well. Even the bar/cafe they had was high quality. The bathrooms lacked a little privacy in the showers but as problems go it was absolutely miniscule. They had the kind of awesome hostel standards that you just don't expect.
There was a group of 70 young children staying while we stayed. They didn't inform us that we were unable to eat at the resturant downstairs and the children ran wild through the hostel breaking showers and peaking into the all female dorms. Generator staff seemed to forget about their other paying customers when these children were there. Massive downer to the otherwise fine stay.
Clean, modern, well located and a great atmosphere
Takes ages to get a beer when there's only one staff on other than that good experience
the place is brand new and super hip... almost too hip. the WiFi was fast but I could only get it in the lounge, where they were playing really loud music all the time. the rooms and beds were exceptionally great, except there was no lock on the shower room door and the showers had little privacy. getting there from the main part of Venice was easy and relatively fast. the bar was expensive for a hostel- €5 for a draft pint.
Enjoy this hostel. Stayed in the 16 bedroom highly recommend it. Heaps of fun and awesome crowd. Bit far from transport such as trains and buses. But worth the travel
Had a great time at Generator and met some fantastic people! My only complaint is the location as per the reviews of everyone else but still worth the hike. The hostel would also benefit from having a kitchen. There is a great supermarket a short stroll away called Discount Prix where you can get some extremely cheap drinks - make sure you hit it up!
Everything was very, very good. The hostel had a slightly subdued atmosphere (everyone kept to themselves) and what facilities there were were good, though minimal (no kitchen, free wifi but it was slow and patchy etc). The location is no issue at all, a very short and frequent vaporetto ride from the main city. Very clean rooms, helpful staff, great value for money.
