This is a very nice hostel. The staff was all very polite and helpful, and they all had great customer service. The rooms are clean and have a bathroom inside of them, as opposed to a community bathroom like some hostels have. The environment was very laid back and relaxed, and it was easy to just hang out at the bar and meet new people. The hostel itself is a little out of the way in terms of being close to the center of the city, but it's right by a waterbus stop so you can get anywhere.
The catch is that you are stuck on an island and if you intend to see venice you need to catch a ferry which means paying upto 7 euros for a one way trip. So factor that in before booking. There are ferry passes which makes it a little more economical. Apart for location, it's a great hostel. Staff are brilliant.
The staff were very abrasive at times and were often more than a little snooty if you asked for help or needed to find something, like duck tape for example. the facilities and the hostel itself however was very nice and I thought it was neat that the hostel was in some sort of old mill. Also, if you are shy person, I would highly suggest a bathing suit for the shared shower rooms.
This place was nice and clean and big and comfortable. It was definitely geared more towards partying 19 year olds during my stay, which would have been fun if I were that age and wanted to party like that...so if that's what you are looking for this place would be perfect for you! If you're a little older you may want to search for something else.

Excellent place to stay in. Love the location and the great view of San Marco. The room was a bit cramped but the bed is nice and sturdy, with separators for extra privacy. The lounge is awesome to hang out it even though the bartender is super slow. If you're under 29, make sure to get the 3-day transport pass for a discount!
The hostel was very clean and with new facilities. It's not on the main island, but very close. The staff were nice.
Very cool old building & decor. It Was quite crowded when I stayed, but otherwise a great place to rest your head. Easy (& fun!) to get to main island- the vaporetto stop is right outside the front door!
Very nice place! Although it's quite far from the railway station (around half hour by water-way) , 5 mins boating to the saint Marco square. All in all, nice place!
The atmosphere is really nice! And is very comfortable staying in Venice. I loved the sight that the hostel has, I would definately go again. Its important to know that there is no kitchen but the breakfast is really good and they offer cheap lunches
Overall a good hostel to stay at if in venice. Only two water bus stops away from san marco square. Food at the hostel was pretty good for the price. Nice rooms but it can be frustrating with the roll out lockers when people inevitably come in late or leave early. The lockers also are a problem to open if the bunk beds face one another due to spacial requirements. Breakfast is ok. Nothing special. The common space doesn't really encourage socialising well
This Hostel was too Expensive. Only stayed two nights and I was charged a ridiculous amount. Lobby looked very nice. Did not know that this was a youth hostel when i booked the room. not the place for solo travelers. The rooms look presentable and clean until you look closer. I arrived really late on my first night and I found that i had to make my bed. Half the asleep and the lights were off. To my surprise, I found that the bed board was FULL of dust. no one has cleaned the room properly.
Basically like a hotel! So clean. And each bed has its own little light and outlet so you can charge your devices. Definitely convenient. Easy to get to by the Vapparetto. Highly recommend.
A very unusually upscale hostel for those looking for something a bit more spaecial.
Great facilities and really helpful staff. It was a little annoying to have to keep getting the water taxi back and forth to the location though. I only stayed one night but if I had've stayed longer I would have looked for somewhere a little closer to the main area
The Generator was unfortunately a very poor hostel despite its decent appearance. Firstly, you require a water taxi to access the main island (€20 daily) The rooms, despite beautiful views, were severely cramped. You could barely access the lockers beneath the beds; the bathroom door lacked a lock (as did the communal toilets); the restaurant menu was limited throughout our stay due to school groups. The drinks expensive, food awful, zero atmosphere and the staff shockingly rude.
Was a cool hostel, very modern and clean. Great location. However, there were many negatives. The evening dinners were a disgrace, only one dinner choice due to a large group staying at the hostel (which appeared to be about a dozen students), the chef was totally overwhelmed and incompetant. The meal was disgusting and he charged extra for ketchup!! Breakfast was ok, just. Not enough toilets
Not on the main city but just 2 stops away via the water boat. Easy to get to from airport via bus. Great staff, one even help me break my lock as it got stuck. You have to pay for breakfast and it was okay for 3 euro. Good place to meet people and have a drink after a long day out.
Nice hostel, easy to get to

Really nice hostel, fun to be at Giudecca away from the noise and the crayziness but still super easy to reach San Marco by vaporetto, Nicola at reception is friendly and will help with everything Just loooots of schoolgroups, which can be a bit hard if you want to make friends in your rooms or downstairs at the bar (Venice is not a party place, but still, you can manage to have fun! )
