My room was spacious and lovely but smelled like the sewer system

I dont know where George house sent us but the hostel on George street was just frighting. We stayed at a place on Sherbourne that was very nice, more that what we expected.

Man, this place was cool... My girl and I were on the third floor, we had the bathroom three steps away, a big, beautiful stain glass window, our own balcony, and pretty much everything we needed. The location was great, not to far from anything you'd want to see. A good place to go :)

The area was sketchy as hell, the rooms themselves were nice and very big (but smelled a little funky). There were useful guides of the city that I found very helpful. Parking was ridiculously expensive (as you are not allowed to park on that street at night). I had a lot of trouble with getting in touch with the staff and they keep the laundry room locked (they kept other guests waiting to check in for hours).

The actual house itself was fine and though older everything was clean and quiet and tidy. The location was great, close to subway and Dundas Sq/Eaton Centre. However we were disappointed that there was no reception and no-one there on arrival, we had to ring an intercom which linked us to another hostel and then it took another phone call and 45mins before the manager turned up to check us in and this was valuable time wasted for us as we only had 1 night in the city.

Affordable place for the experienced traveller. My place had a great terrace, my room was nice and clean, shared o bathroom small. Fully equipped and clean kitchen Everybody who prefers some privacy that bigger hostels cannot offer. Some etablissments in teh area might not pit into teh suburban world, but did not really make an impact. Hey -you are in a city.

I didn't eat any dinner because I was too scared to go outside by myself. In between a halfway house and a strip club. Shady characters all around. Did not feel safe here. But the room was nice at least.

What is wrong with the place is that there is no reception or staff at the guesthouse. When u get to the front door u have to use the intercom, u get a password, u wait inside and then a guy shows up from somewhere (40 min wait). The main problem is the the location: It's located in between a strip club and a free medical service/ homeless shelter. The latter are great projects, yet the street was full of shady people (crackheads etc..) Did not feel at ease with all my gear in that street.
