The hostel really suited us as it's not far from the mall (Eastgate-lots of restaurants, big cinema etc) and the airport and offers secure parking which was perfect as we were just stopping off in Jozi between flights.

I highly recommend this hostel, though I rated it's location and staff as average. The staff does not offer information - you have to ask for it. But they are helpful once asked. The location is not near a lot, but it is close to a grocery and not that far from restaurants. The best part of this place are there facilities. The pool is great, the kitchen, TV room, and bar are pristine. Seriously... you could just stay in the hostel and it would be a great trip. Pizza can be delivered.

Ghandi's generally has a slightly older crowd. They have a good knowledge of local tours and activities and will shuttle you around Joburg for a very cheap price. The bar's decent and the most relaxed dog lives there in history (even I was fine with her and I don't like dogs). The hostel doesn't really organise group events for guests but will signpost you to whatever you need in town.
