Good for a party, but not to chill out. Still though, good place to stay, it just depends what you are looking for

I had two stays at Gilligan's. The 1st one was alright, that's why I booked the 2nd one. Unfortunately the toilet flush was broken, but nobody felt responsible to handle it. The card reader at the entrance door was damaged. I was living in a more calm room of the hostel, but I think if you are unlucky, it can be very noisy. The staff wasnt friendly or well informed if asked questions. It is going on the nerves that every evening somebody turns up at the room and wants to sell partytickets

The location was great !!! But our key card cannot open the door everyday ,need to ask the reception every time when we back room everything is good in addition

partytime, all the time. fun hostel to stay at if you want to party. rooms are clean and kitchen and TV area on each floor.

BUT IF YOU WANT HAVE A REST DONT GO THERE SO NOISY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Had a great time! Best bar in Cairns and has a very good travel desk. Rooms were nice and had a big patio! Also cheap wifi. Only bad thing is loud music if you're trying to sleep, but if you want to party, this is the place to go!

My stay was amazing! The staff is incredible and extremely friendly. Jed at the bar and Aaron at the travel desk were both fantastic!

If you want to sleep at night do not stay here. Nightclub part of hostel open and very loud until 3am every day. Otherwise, this is a modern, clean, well maintained and managed place.

Beautiful hostel which is so big that it is impersonnal It was impossible for me to sleep in the 10 bed dorm, as the music of the bar was very loud. I had to change dorm But a good place to party everynight

Great place.Had booked a six bed female dorm and got a four bed female dorm. The ensuite bathroom was clean and toilet and shower were seperated so you haven't had to wait long. The kitchen on the fourth floor was very big and ver clean. The whole hostel was very new and you get key cards to enter your room. Plenty of washers and dryers are available. There's also a bar/night club next door. The only thing I didn't like was the strong ac- all my clothes were wet and stinky after a few hours.

I reserved online for 6 nights and when I came back to the hostel on the last night at 4 pm everything seemed like normal. After coming back from my pub crawl my roommates said my stuff ha been taken by reception. When I showed the man at the counter that I had booked for that night he said they didn't have it in the system. He was very rude and I had to go on a search for my things in the room and in a bin. My trip was amazing but terribly ruined by how I was treated on my last night.

If you are looking for a party hostel this is the place to be. If you like a good night's sleep - maybe choose somewhere else since even if you go to bed your roommates probably won't.. The facilites in the hostel are good.

A/C was broken in room. About 25c at 3am. Room smelled terrible

Although quite noisy it's bareable and I'm a light sleeper!! The staff were really helpful both on reception and on the ttravel desk! The free food (although not quite free you have to buy a drink) was lovely! Definitely a place to party and meet people I was expecting it to be more crazy honestly from some of the stories iv heard!! Well worth a visit even just for the be if your not staying!

Loved this place, fantastic party hostel with a great atmosphere and very social. Would not think of staying anywhere else in Cairns as a backpacker.

A very new and large hospital with a really nice pool, bar, and club. Only criticism is that the size of the place takes away from the character you get at small hostels.

Pretty good hostel for a party whenever you want it. Hostel bar downstairs was more than good. Didnt take enough advantage of it to be honest! Otherwise rooms good, decentlybig and tidy enough. Security average, but would recommend if your after somewhere with some nightlife to it
